Beth POV

It's been a few weeks since I met Sophie.

Nothing interesting has happened these past few weeks, surprisingly we haven't seen any zombies or anything.
Anyways, we've been getting along really well.

If you saw us out with each other, the way we interact with each other, you'd think we've known each other for years.

We get along so well.

I'm just glad I can have a friend during this hell.

Someone I can trust.

It's so lonely in this world now, you barely see anyone that isn't infected, about 70% of the population has turned/in the process of turning.

So we have to be really careful.

We were walking around the city, looking for survivors.

"Hey, you stay here, I think I heard a noise inside that building." Sophie says to me.

I nod.

She quickly runs into the building as I sit outside.

I observe my surroundings.

I see something glimmer in the sunlight, I walk over to it..

I get closer to it, and it seems to be a crystal.

I crouch down and pick it up, I blow it off and observe it.

'Pretty.' I thought to myself.

I was so distracted I didn't hear the thumping of footsteps behind me.

All I remember is being slammed to the ground, hearing "Beth!" and then blacking out.

I wake up with a pounding headache,

"Beth? Are you okay?" A voice asks me.

I focus my vision on the figure and it turns out to be Sophie.

"Yeah, I think I'm good." I say rubbing my head.

"What happened back there, why didn't you try to defend yourself?" She asks.

"I- uh- I got distracted by a crystal.." my voice trailed off.

She facepalms.

"Dumbass." She says jokingly.

"Indeed, I am a dumbass." I respond.

We both laugh.

"Alright, let's get going to see if we can find survivors, yeah?" She says.

"Yeah, let's go." I respond.

We start walking through the city, looking for survivors, no such luck though.

We see a party city, we then smirk at each other and dart into the store.

I run to the candy aisle and grab craploads of candy and stuff it into my bag.

I jump when I feel a pair of hands grab my shoulders and turn me around.

Before I could say anything or react, I was sprayed in the face with silly string.

I heard laughing, I pull the string off my face and chase Sophie around the store, yelling:

"I'M GONNA DELETE YOUR KNEECAPS!"

She runs to the aisle with silky string and grabs two or three more cans of it.

I grab a few myself.
