{I am going to start writing in 1st person... just letting you know. And I am going to give the (y/n)s a name. In this story her name is Holly.}

Val invited me to come with him to the children's hospital today. I woke up a little earlier than usual to get ready, because I may or may not have a little crush on him. We are just friends, I told myself. A knock on the door woke me out of my trance. " I ran to the door, taking a moment to smooth my hair and clothes. I opened the door and welcomed Val into my apartment. We hugged, each of us holding on longer than a normal hug with any other person. "Ready to go?" He asked. "Yeah. Just let me grab my purse." The two of us walked out to Val's car. He immediately ran over to the passenger side and opened the door. He is such a gentleman, I thought. "What do you want to listen to?" He asked, whipping out his phone. "I don't care." "Alright. Hip hop and rap it is." He replied with a mischievous grin. I laughed. "Only if it's White Boy Boogie." I teased. "We don't speak of that." Val said laughing so hard I feared he might lose control of the car. When we finally pulled up to the hospital, Val informed me that we will be visiting the cancer ward today. I was scared and excited all at the same time. As though he could sense how I felt, he said "Don't be nervous. They are gonna love you." I smiled. He put his arm around my shoulders to shield me from the cold wind, as we walked towards the hospital. We got our visitor passes and continued to the cancer ward. He squeezed my hand and led me over to a nurse, who he apparently knew. "Martha! This is Holly! Holly, this is Martha. She works here." I reached out and shook her hand. "Right this way." She led us to a sort of common room, where kids were playing and parents were talking. Val leaned in my ear and said "Are you ready!" I nodded. The two of us walked over to a little girl in an Elsa costume. "Hi sweetheart." Val cooed to the little princess. "Val!" the little girl squealed. "I missed you!" he said hugging her. "This is Holly!" "Hi Holly!" she said as she ran over and wrapped her little arms around you. "Are you in love?" asked the little princess. We laughed, but I secretly wanted to hear his answer. Val leaned over and whispered something in her ear. I couldn't hear what he said. We spent a little more time with her before going to talk to her parents. "Val! It's so nice to see you again. Holly, right? I've seen you on the show." said her mother. "How are you?" asked Val. "Well, besides the fact that my baby has leukemia, we are fine." "Katie's a strong girl. She'll get through it." Val assured her. "It was nice meeting you, Holly." "You as well." We talked to more kids and their families. Val was so well loved here. The way he talked to the kids and loving look that he gave each and every one of them... He was gonna be a great father someday. On our way back to his car, he put his arm around my shoulders again and kissed the top of my head. "Thank you for coming with me today. It means the world to me." I couldn't hide my smile. "I wouldn't have missed it for the world." "Do you remember when Katie asked if we were in love?" I nodded. "Well I told her yes. That yes we were in love." I looked up at Val. "I'm glad we feel the same way." At that moment he leaned in and kissed me. We stood in that parking lot for what felt like an eternity, but I never wanted that moment to end.
