It was boiling hot outside (Roughly 29°c) when my family and I got out of the car that was equally as hot.
We had travelled 4 hours to get to our holiday destination.
"Thank God that I'm out of that sweaty car!" my mum chuckled, opening up the car boot. "I felt like a boiled lobster!"
"Me too! Too hot for my liking." My stepdad agreed as he followed her and helped her get their suitcases out of the car boot.
I stared at the caravan we were going to be staying in for a week. It was quite plain on the outside and I knew that it was going to be the same on the inside - A typical caravan.
My family and I had come on holiday to a holiday park called Spring Valley. The holiday park in general was large with lots of caravans and plenty of things to do. (If you were under 12, that is!) The beach was a ten minutes away but could be seen from the holiday park.
There were a variety of plants planted around and it made the place look lovely. On the site there is a restaurant, huge arcade, pond, sports area, swimming pool, golf course, a pizza place and entertainment complex (The 'club' as we called it.)
The place was mainly aimed at children but a teens and such go too. I had been there multiple times (Mainly as a child) and as time goes on you outgrow it. My family had decided it would be the last time we go there, and we would go abroad next time. It was sad but I love going abroad so I wasn't complaining.
My family consisted of my mum, my stepdad, my 13 year old sister and myself - Oh, and our Spaniel back home named Bruno who was being looked after by my auntie.
My dad left us when I was nine and hasn't spoken to us since. I am eighteen now and I can safely say Good riddance. My mum deserved better and he did her a huge favour by leaving us because she found a great man and has been happier ever since.
I went to the car boot as my stepdad opened the caravan and took his suitcase inside. I pulled my suitcase out of the car boot and put it on the ground.
"Samantha, could you get Alicia's suitcase whilst you are getting yours, please?" My mum asked as she walked into the caravan.
"yeah, mum!" I pulled my sisters suitcase out of the car boot and shut the car boot door.
"Thanks, turd." My sister laughed, before getting into the caravan. Oh, the joys of having a younger sister!
I pulled both suitcases inside with a struggle. They were quite heavy, even if my sister's was a tiny suitcase. God knows what she packs!
My mum went back outside and locked her car before coming back into the caravan. We began unpacking and after a long car journey the worst thing about a holiday was unpacking (Ugh!) - Or was it just me being lazy? Probably.
"You two don't have to share a room this year because we got a three bedroom caravan instead." my mum told me and Alicia.
I smiled, "Good, her feet smell awful!"
Alicia laughed and winked at me, "You know I can't help it."
I took my suitcase into my small room. Each room in a caravan is very similar, to be honest. Each with thin, white walls, brown carpets and small beds with ugly bedding. It often got cold in a caravan so I often wore a hoodie to be bed.
I unpacked all of my clothes into the small wardrobe in the corner and put my shoes at the bottom. I don't take much on holiday because it means more cleaning when I get home... well, for my mum anyway! I just re-use some clothes like I do at home. In reality there is no need to get a whole clean outfit out everyday - Imagine the washing for a family of five!
