Gaurdian- Chapter 6- The Phone Call
Aria's POV.
I can't believe he missed. I mean, he was right in front of me and he missed. It didn't make sense. Instead of hitting me he hit the ball I was aiming for. Why, I ask myself. Why would he do that? For all I know he was giving me death stares this whole time and now he chooses to miss.
"Come on Aria, now's your chance to get him back, he ran out of balls." I heard someone yell I didn't quite hear who it was, I was still in shock. I think it may have been Yasmen but who knows.
I glanced back at him. He was standing there waiting for me. His expression was always blank, but this time I could see defeat written all over his face, but when I looked into his green eyes, I saw something completely different. He wasn't sad or hurt, he was pleased with himself. He may be a good liar, but his eyes gave it all away.
I grabbed another ball that was behind me. He took a step back, as if he didn't see it coming. I aimed it at his legs I didn't want to hurt him or anything. I threw the ball as hard as I could and it hit him right in the leg, right where I wanted it.
The girls cheered and came up to me. The guys looked a little pissed, but they'll get over it. They weren't sore losers, or I hope they weren't anyway.
The end of the school day went pretty fast, from then on. I constantly tried to avoid Liam as much as I could, but it was hard considering that he was in all of my classes. Yasmen tried to help me avoid him as well. She may as well be my extra pair of eyes and ears.
I drove home eager to change out of my clothes and into my PJS. The gym incident was still in my mind. Was it really a miss, or did he miss on purpose? I was watching him get someone out right after the other, and then he all of a sudden misses. It didn't make sense. Well, get over it, I said to myself. I don't care anymore and I'm not about to let him get to me.
I reach the house and park my car in the drive way. My mom wasn't home yet from work because the garage was empty. I understood that she works late, and I understood it was my fault. She works in her office but has to reply everything to New York. I refused to move to the big apple, so we had to make arrangements for my mother to be able to work here but still be editor of a magazine that is published in New York. Oh well, she's my mom and every mom has sacrifices for their children and although she never showed it I could tell she really wished we could just move.
I changed my clothes into a simple blue tank top and matching basketball shorts. I go all out on comfy, when I'm at home. It's the only place where I can dress how ever I like without any judging. No judging from friends, classmates, Mom's coworkers, or the press. It was just me and I and that's the way I liked it.
While I was in the kitchen getting my dinner ready I heard my cell phone ringing. I ran to the table, where it was charging and without looking at the caller ID I quickly picked it up.
"Hello," I said while I was stirring the pasta I was making.
"Hello Aria," a voice said back to me.
"I'm sorry, who is this?" I stopped stirring to focus on the conversation.
"It doesn't matter; all you need to know is that you're in danger." I drop the spoon I was carrying in my hand. My whole body froze.
"Is this some kind of joke?" trying to regain myself from what I just heard. Was this guy serious or was it some kind of prank?
"I'm afraid not my dear," I could tell he was smirking on the other line.
