Gaurdian - Chapter 9 - Lydia's Song
Aria's POV.
It didn’t really take me more then thirty minutes to show Liam the whole school. He walked fast I walked fast, I guess we both wanted to get it over with, but something seemed a little of with Liam. We talked a little about random things, I guess, nothing special. A little laughs here and there, didn’t hurt too. It wasn’t awkward like I expected it to be, he was actually comfortable to hang around with. I just hope I didn’t make him feel awkward. Sometimes I felt that he would just be nodding when I spoke, not really paying any attention about class details. I didn’t know if it was because he couldn’t care less about school, or if he just had other things more important on his mind. It kind of hurt a little to think I wasn’t worth the time.
There was one last stop I had to show him before we could depart and go our separate ways. This room was special to me. I have no idea why I felt the need to show him this room, since I hated it when I saw someone enter it, but I just had this erg to do it.
“This is the music room; I guess you could call it,” I say to him in a casual tone. I didn’t want to give off any special meaning, this place actually had, to me. It was a secret of mine that not even Yasmen knew about.
“It doesn’t look like it has been used at all,” he wrinkles his nose a little from the dust flowing around us as we enter the room. He quietly closes the door behind him, when he entered behind me. I did think much of it at the time.
“Yeah, well our school upgraded to an auditorium, so this place hasn’t been used in years. The janitors don’t even bother to touch it, they think it’s pointless.” I had an annoyance in my voice, I’m sure he heard.
“Well, somebody didn’t think it was pointless.” He looks up to me with a smile. He’s leaning closer to the piano; oh no, this can’t be good. He pulls off the rest of the cover that I had wrapped around the piano. If I didn’t cover it I’m sure rats would find its way in there.
“W-w-what do you mean,” the words stumble out of my mouth before I even registered what I said. This can’t be good, because I knew exactly what he meant.
“The piano’s been used recently; see how the keys have been swept clean for usage.” He pulls back the stool to sit on and pats on it; gesturing me to sit next to him. The room was a little dark so I switch the lights on. I walk towards him and sit where he motioned for me to.
“I guess they don’t even bother to change the lights in here either,” he says glancing up at the fixture, on the ceiling. The room was brighter then before, but it was still a little dim. I nod my head agreeing. Even the smallest of light brought out the dust that pilled up on empty chairs and tables. Books and papers were scattered around the floor, practically blending in with it, since the floor hadn’t been swept in years. The walls could defiantly use some painting, as well.
“Do you play?” I ask, wondering if he had some talent.
“A little, I used to practice when I was little.” He shrugged at it, like it was no big deal. He blows of a little more dust so he could see the music sheet that was in front of him. I had been practicing that song for a week now, I wonder if he knew it.
“Really that’s…interesting.” A little shocked I say.
“Why do you sound like that’s hard to believe?” He chuckles out. He cocks his head to the side and faces me. Even in the dark his eyes pierced like emeralds.
