chapter 22

"Nikolai" Adriana whispered while touching my shoulder. Opening my eyes I looked around and saw Adriana standing above me. "I heard what happened last night" she whispered and I nodded then looked over at Serena.

"Yeah I'm sorry this had to happen to her" I whispered then held Serena's hand. Her breathing steady and her eyes still shut. "She's pregnant" I mumbled and Adriana gasped.

"Are you serious?" She asked and I nodded.

"Yeah she knew but she never told me, where are the kids?" I asked then stood up.

"They're in the dinning room eating" she whispered.

"I rather them not seeing their mother like this" I told her and she shook her head.

"Nikolai you can't do that, they are gonna ask for her and they also can help her to wake up, let them talk to her" she said and I sighed then nodded. I kissed Serena's forehead then left the room. Walked up the stairs and went into the dining room. The babies seated on the floor eating. Rose was holding Aurora while feeding her. She started crying when she saw that I was standing here. She held both her hand out and I took her from Rose.

"Good morning Nikolai how is Serena doing?" She asked but I said nothing instead I walked over to the boys and stoop down.

"Daddy" Logan whispered then walked over to me.

"Come here lorenzo I've something to tell you" I said and he walked over to me. "Mommy had a little accident, she's in the uncle Fernandos room" I said and they just stared at me then nodded.

"Can we see mommy?" Lorenzo asked and I nodded. I told them to follow me. They carefully walked down the hall to the room then ran inside.

"Shhh mommy sleepy" Logan whispered, if only they knew how much pain mommy was in.

"Daddy why does mommy have those in her hand and nose?" logan said while pointing at her.

"Mommy is not feeling well okay and we need to help her feel better, talk to her okay" I told them and they nodded. "Go give mommy a kiss and tell her that you love her" I whispered and they nodded then climbed on top of the bed.

"Mommy I love you" they both said in unison then kissed her cheek.

"Aurora give mommy a kiss" I leaned forward and she kissed her then laid her head on Serena's chest.

"Come on boys we are going to come back later to check on mommy, daddy has some work to do" we left the room and I carried the kids to their play room while I check the camera's. I went up to my office, opened the door and saw Matteo sitting down.

"Are you ready boss?" He asked and I nodded then straightened out my suit. Sat down and searched my computer. Since we just installed a camera in the kids room we won't know what going on.

We stayed the whole day searching for something but we found nothing. I sighed in defeat then slouched in my chair. "It's pointless Matteo" I whispered.

"Maybe we can find something their has to be some evidence" he said and I rolled my eyes.

"Her clothes" I said when an idea popped into my head "the clothes that Serena was wearing, maybe the person who pushed her down the stairs touched her, we could get some DNA" I said then smiled and Matteo shook his head.

"Already checked it seems as if the someone was smart, they wear gloves" Matteo said and I groaned.

"Maybe she did fall down the stairs when she missed a step" I said "but that's very unusual, you barely see people falling down a stairs nowadays, it's not like their was something slippery or some toy on the step" I said then leaned forward.

"It has to be someone in the house that did it, maybe one the guards, maids or that babysitter" Matteo said and something clicked on my head.

"Okay, so we already checked the camera's, we found nothing as if they deleted the footage from the camera. I want to do a little more background on everyone, especially Rose, she was the first one who heard when Serena fell down the stairs" I said and Matteo nodded then stood up.

"On it boss, I'll make sure that I search each and everyone of their rooms" Matteo said then left. I sighed then took up a bottle of whiskey. I really need this.

"Daddy" I heard a little voice say, I looked up and I saw Lorenzo standing at the door. "Can we go see mommy now" he whispered and I smiled then nodded. Placing the bottle back into the cabinet I sighed then turn towards my son. "Mommy sick daddy" he said the looked up at me as we walked down the stairs.

"Yes son and we need to help mommy get better" I told him and he nodded. I ruffled his hair and he giggled. Logan joined me, we walked into the room and Serena was just lying their. I kissed her forehead and the boys climbed on top her bed.

"Good night mommy get well soon" logan said then kissed her cheek "yeah wake soon mommy" Lorenzo said then kissed the other side of her cheek. If she was awake right now she would be smiling.

"Come on boys let's put you to bed" I whispered then help them off the bed. They ran out of the room and I followed behind them.

"No need to worry Nikolai I'll put them to bed" Rose said when I was on my way upstairs. I nodded then walked back down to the Serena's room. I sat down beside her and just stared at her. I smiled when I remembered the first day I met her.

"Remember the first day I met you, I saw you on the street and stopped you, I was so mad that you left and you were like I don't know you, started fight me off. Well I kidnapped you since you didn't know me, but I thought I did know you" I said then laughed. "The more you resist was the more I wanted you, I loved when you did bad things it made me want you even more. You went through some rough times though, we got married and have three beautiful kids" I said.

"Four because one is on the way I hope the baby will be okay" I whispered, I felt like I was talking to myself even though she was listening. I wanted to cry but I held it in. Placing my hand on her belly I smiled then kissed her small bump.

"Be strong for daddy okay" I whispered then stood up. "Good night bellissima" kissed her lips then left the room.
