The multi-colored cube sat there, violently typing away at his computer, almost finished with all the lines of code he wrote over the... months? Years? He didn't even know. All he knew was that he was almost done. This code would be used to make his first creation... and be used to advertise something else that he had also been working on.
But he was also making this creation so that... he felt less lonely. To have someone with him. Maybe someone to watch over too. Like a father-and-son relationship. That would be nice, he thought.
After a couple minutes, he finished the last line, and he quickly sat up in his chair. So fast it almost fell over. He stretched out, looking at all of the work he did.
"...Finally. I've done it. God i don't even know how long that took."
He looked over at a button sitting next to the computer. It had wires that connected to the computer, and a really weird contraption a few feet away. It kind of looked like a metal chamber, with a small room in the middle, and a window to peer into. The square immediately slammed his hand on the button. For a second, there was silence. But then, the sound of an engine started up, and filled the entire room with noise. Gears started whirring, fans started blowing.
He was nervous for a second, as all of the code he worked disappeared from the screen completely. That nervousness immediately faded though, as he saw a bright light erupt from the middle of the chamber in the large machine. He pushed his chair closer to the window and looked inside.
And there he saw it forming.
It was pretty blank at first, just small, light blue pieces scattered in random spots. But soon, more pieces started to form, and take the shape of a horizontal rectangle, seemingly divided in four sections.
Darker blue pieces formed the limbs. They were simple, The hands being spheres, and the feet... well... basically an oval, but with a pointed end.
The square continued to watch in awe, as a face started to form. It took longer than he thought it would, but eventually, the face was complete. It was a pretty peaceful expression, as if the rectangle was sleeping.
Then, all the noise stopped, and the rectangle dropped down to the bottom of the chamber, and was spat out of the end of the chamber, onto some sort of table. The square pushed his chair yet again, towards the rectangle. Another moment of silence went by before it started opening its eyes slowly. The square just watched, excited as hell, but trying not to show it.
Once the rectangle opened its eyes all the way, it looked around, confused and curious. Once it saw the square hovering closely next to them, it kind of freaked them out.
"Um... What are you? Or... who? Where am i?"
The rectangle panicked, sitting up, and was about to make a run for it before the square put a hand on theirs, and settled it down.
"Sh. Its ok, alright? No need to be scared. Im not going to hurt you. Nothing is. Not on my watch."
"...What do you mean?"
"Well..."
The square stood up, and looked down at the rectangle, a small smile plastered onto his face.
"Im Microsoft. Basically, I brought you into this world. And im going to watch over you to make sure nothing bad happens."
"Oh... I See.... so you're my dad?"
"Heh, well i guess you could say that. Now gets up, lets go do something together."
"Hehe! Ok..."
Microsoft could see that the rectangle was very childish, which was further proved by the rectangle barely actually being able to walk at all. But it learned very quickly. Microsoft brought the rectangle with him, and out of the room they were in. They were kind of in a basement-like place.
Once they got out of the room, they were greeted with a house. a pretty big one, actually. The rectangle gasped, obviously impressed with just the sheer size of the building, along with how fancy it looked. Microsoft just giggled.
"Welcome to your new home."
