I proceed to walk into the guest tent Johnathan told me I may stay in. I think to myself,
Why do I have strange powers? Do I have any more? What happened to the 'operators'?
My mind proceeds to flood with a sea of questions. I decide to eat an MRE stored in the cabinet, and after that, clear my mind through meditation.
That, however, does not work out well. I can't seem to clear my mind successfully, as questions continue to bombard me. My family was a poorer one growing up, so I never actually got my hands on any other technology. I try to take a phone out of my bag, courtesy of 'Rainbow' I think it was. Nothing happens at first, but when I activate it, electricity thrashes out at it. Apparently, any technology that is currently running gets fried. My thoughts were cut short by Johnathan lifting the flab of the tent, speaking,
"The proconsul wants to meet you. Follow me."
I do what Johnathan says and follow him, to a slightly wider, yet significantly longer tent.
"I see you have brought the guest, John!" A booming voice says.
"Yes sir."
John whispers to me, "Good luck, and don't make him even slightly angry." John proceeds to leave the tent.
"Hello," the voice exclaims, as an incredibly built man comes out from behind a pile of wood. "I believe you to be Noah Lincolin?"
"Correct, sir," I quickly reply, as to not make him impatient.
"I believe you to have the ability to fry any electronic, simply by coming in contact with them. Correct?"
"Yes, sir."
"I would like you to demonstrate." He hands what looks to be an old MP3 player. Nothing happens at first, and he raises an eyebrow. However, when I activate it, it crackles with electricity and nearly instantly fries.
"I see it only works when the device is on. When they eventually wake up, we will see if they are still one of them. You could be a valuable asset, Noah. Dismissed!"
I walk out of the tent, and start looking for Johnathan. I want some answers on who that guy is, and what just happened. All I know is John called him the proconsul, and he tested my ability once more. I go on a search, and I see him talking to a lady, who seems angry. Being the bro I am, I walk up to him and the seething, enraged lady. When she sees me, she seems to return to a more polite mood. I think to myself,
I don't like this lady already.
I say,
"Hey, John was told by the proconsul to show me around a bit. Mind if I take him of your hands?"
"Ohh, I haven't seen you around before. What's your name? I'm Demeta Hanes."
"I'm Noah Lincolin. Nice to meet you!"
I shake her hand.
"Nice to meet you too. If it's an order from the proconsul, I'm sure he will immediately. You too better be off now!"When we are out of earshot range, I ask John about what happened.
"My wife, Demeta, wasn't happy I couldn't get any food for our daughter besides MREs. The grocery store, however, is a few miles off in a town, which is heavily guarded by them. I don't know what to do."
We sat in silence for a minute, then I spoke once more,
"I'll go over there for you. I have some drishmenes in my bag I had with me. Just give me a list of what I need to buy for your daughter, and I'll go over there and get them for you."
Another moment of silence follows, and he pipes up,
"Seriously? You swear?"
"Totally, man."
His eyes start to well with tears.
"This means a lot to me bro, thank you so much."
"Anything for a friend."
