Welcome to Jumanji

"Ah, Dr Bravestone. Welcome to Jumanji!" Nigel said with an enthusiastic tone. As he finished his sentence the doors of the vehicle open on cue. "Don't just stand there. In you go!"

Not even a second had passed and a aggressive roar was heard from the dense forest. The four high school students, with panic, scrambled to the doors of the vehicle and jumped in.

Nigel drove through the forest with speed for a couple of minutes but he slowed down as he started his dialogue. "Dr Bravestone. Framed archaeologist and international explorer. Known across the seven continents for your courageous exploits." Nigel began, still keeping up his enthusiastic tone of voice.

"Is there a seatbelt?" Spencer asked with worry and panic lacing every word.

"I can't tell you what a honour it is to finally meet you. And I'm not even embarrassed to say that you are more dashing in person." Nigel stated, glancing from the front to Spencer.

"Who are you?" Martha jumped into the conversation.

"Nigel Billingsly at your service. Ruby Roundhouse, killer of men. Welcome to Jumanji." Bethany gave an impressed look to Martha but she looked puzzled.

"As you know Jumanji is in grave danger. We're counting on the four of you to lift the curse." Nigel explained, looking straight in front of him.

"Curse?" Fridge asked.

"What curse?" Spencer also asked.

"Excuse me, have you seen my phone anywhere?" Bethany jumped in, asking a completely relevant question, or what she thought was relevant.

"Professor Sheldon Oberon. Welcome to Jumanji. Nigel Billingsly at your service."

"What's with this guy?" Bethany asked, creeped out from his repetitive response.

"I think he's a NPC." Spencer stated, looking over to the other high school students.

"A what? English, please." Bethany said as confusion grew in her voice. Everything around her was going ten times the normal speed for her.

"A non-playable character. He's a part of the game. So anything we ask him, he only has his programmed service of responses." Spencer explained his last statement.

"Got it... it's all clear now." Fridge spoke up after being silent for a while.

"Franklin 'mouse' Finbar. Welcome to Jumanji." Nigel repeated his line.

"It's Moose. It's not mouse."

"No good sir. I'm quite sure it's mouse. A nickname given for your diminutive stature and adorable manner. I knew you'd be here, Dr Bravestone doesn't go anywhere without his trusty sidekick." Spencer, Bethany and Martha shared a grin at that statement.

"Can we go back to the curse thing?" Spencer asked, putting the conversation on track.

"It's all documented in the letter I sent you. Perhaps you should read it out loud."

"What let-"  Spencer looked down at his hands, an off white letter sat in his clutch. His expression turned from confused to shocked, just like the other three students.

"Um... right. Dr Bravestone, I am writing to you regarding the desperate situation..." Spencer started as Nigel's voice continued.

"... in Jumanji. We need your help at once! My name is Nigel Billingsly, Jumanji field guide. I was hired by your former partner -now nemesis- Professor Russel Van Pelt, to lead a fateful expedition. You see,  Professor Van Pelt had come in search of the fabled Jaguar shrine, resting place of the sacred jewel of Jumanji..."

A/n- skipped some of this because there is no point of writing this part.

"...Now the jewel lies with two trusty people. Right then. With the invaluable help of your associates, you must use your complementary skills to find those who keeps the jewel, return it to the jaguar's eye and lift the curse." On cue the doors of the vehicle opened and the four high school students disembarked.

"Dr Bravestone, here's a map of Jumanji. You must go to the bazar to find the jewel and it will lead you to the missing pieces."

"Missing pieces of what?" Martha asked in a raised voice.

"Cheerio!"

Some time had passed since Alex and Davina had heard the noise from the sky.

"So do we just... wait it out?" Alex asked, tapping his foot on the ground with a margarita in his hand.

"Yep, then after that -when we know they're at the bazar- I go to find them in the bazar and bring them here." Davina replies, walking around the hideout. In all honesty, Davina was nervous. Yes, she was also leaping with joy that other people had found the game -because the two of them needed help, whenever they admitted or not- but she was also nervous because everything could go terribly wrong. Now, in this moment in time she was overthinking the situation and she did that quite often, since she had only one life left.

"Why you, not me?" Alex asked. He was worried for him and his best friend, if anything happened to her he would feel like he was the one to blame. Why? They've spent weeks together and Davina always protected him and it would be devastating if he couldn't protect her.

"Because I have 'weapon accuracy' meaning I can protect myself. Plus, you know you can't kill anyone or thing with a margarita." They both smile at her last sentence.

"Just don't get killed." Alex said with worry creeping into his voice.

"Don't worry, there's like a five percent chance you will have to save me." Davina gave him a reassuring smile.

Thank you for waiting, sorry it's been so long but as promised I will post around 2-3 chapters. This story will be short but I don't know how short. The four high school students will meet Alex and Davina next chapter. 🥳

Thanks again, bye

P.S- sorry for the shorter chapter. 😕
