Summer trials were more than successful. As we approach our Junior Year of high school, we look forward to the first day of classes, and seeing our friends that we've grown fond of over the past couple of years. I never would have imagined actually looking forward to these mundane classes, but it's not so much the school, or the subject matter the teachers are presenting, it's the friends and connections we've made since we've arrived here.

Lisa Goodson's father and I have now entered into an official contract for a low production run of our Adam-Aid drinks. It's becoming increasingly difficult keeping the method of production secret from him, so far I've managed to stave off his curiosity claiming that my formula has a patent pending, and I don't want to share it till it's approved. Which actually gave me the idea that I should do just that - to keep our potion brewing a secret. It also would prevent other mages that we don't know about from catching on to the idea and stealing the business from us. The Adam-Aid drinks are the main source of income for the 7 of us, so we don't want to lose this lucrative opportunity to keep us comfortable. I now have a sizable orchard and garden growing beside my house as we grow all our own ingredients for the potions.

First day of class, I don't even get into the front doors, before Greg and the football team pick me up from behind and carry me into the school on their shoulders - like I'm some sports superstar. Well, I guess I am their superstar - with the tutoring, drinks, and coaching, our athletics teams are at the top of the nation 2 years running. They're chanting: "Adam's Here! Here's another great year!" I'm sure the whole school can hear their shouts. Those who aren't following the procession to the main lockers, are standing along the sides of the hall clapping. I spot the odd confused freshman as we reach our destination - they'll learn soon enough. Very little stays secret in this school for long.
Greg puts me down as the crowd disperses, Morgan is there all smiles and greets me with a friendly hug. "Ready to impress the newest students?"
I chuckle. "They'll find out soon enough, no need to make too big of a deal of it."
Simeon joins us. "Always the humble one I see."
Luke and Lisa approach us, holding hands. "Any idea how many classes we'll have together?"
I merely shrug. "We'll find out during homeroom, none of us have seen class schedules yet."
The two of them nod their heads together. I swear, they run on the same wavelength, I caught Lisa finishing Luke's sentences by the end of the summer.. if they weren't dating, you'd swear they were twins. Luke keeps going on about how she's the one, I sometimes wonder what he's going to do when we leave. Our magical abilities is the one thing that I believe he's still kept from her - but that might not last long the way they tell each other everything... it's bound to drop in conversation eventually. I just hope he's prepared for the day she finds out.

We have assembly in the morning before class, as the Principal and school staff introduce themselves and welcome us to another year. The gym is organized in rows, with Freshmen at the very front, and the Seniors at the back - who generally are not listening to the 'heard it 4 times in a row already' welcome speech the Principal is holding. I can see why, he's never changed his first day of class address since we've started here either.
Near the end of Assembly, one of the sophomore's breaks 'tradition' and hold up their hand to ask a question. The principal raises and eyebrow, he's used to no one wanting to bring attention to themselves and sending us to homeroom early.
"Yes?" he asks in a half annoyed tone.
"Will the tutoring program be one of the clubs again this year?" asks the loud voice.
I recognize the voice, it's Colin from the basketball team, he had so much trouble last year, he would have failed without our tutoring.
The principal clears his throat. "That's a very good question Colin. You'd have to ask the organizers of the after school program for that answer."
Though he's not mentioned any names, I can see his eyes land right on Morgan, Simeon, Luke, and myself as we're standing side by side.
I look at Morgan who simply nods, so I respond with a "Yes. It starts in a month." knowing full well the question was addressed to us.
The whole gym breaks out in cheer. I can hear Greg and his friends changing the chant into something more.
"Adam! Adam! Adam!" and the crowd starts chiming in with him.
The principal makes hand motions for the crowd to calm down, and everyone settles down quickly enough, we all know the penalty for not listening to him, no one wants to face the next two weeks in detention at the start of the school year.
Principal Dugan dismisses assembly and we all make it to our homerooms to find out what teachers we're going to get this year. I noticed a few faces missing and a few new teachers in the line up behind the principal earlier.
Luke and I share the same chemistry block, nice to have my lab partner again this year.
Morgan, Luke and I have math together
Simeon, Morgan and I share a few other classes... all told I have at least one of my friends in every class this year.
