Harumi's POV

A light flashed. And off was cut another inch or so of my silky, white, long hair that fell gracefully down to the small of my back, hanging loosely over my waist and falling over my neck gracefully in two long strips that hovered over my chest. My hair was quite unique, looked whiter than snow in sunlight but at night it gave of an eerie, kind of Misty glow that could make me emerge out of the shadows like a ghost, per say.

Snip....snip....
Off went another inch onto the rosewood floors below us and below the leather chair I sat in as my hair was cut.

My mother said there's always something to loose in yourself. I haven't figured that out yet. She told me I shouldn't think of myself. To only help others. To not look in the mirror for too long...but rules are rules. And some we just have to obide by in order to survive.

Third person.

In a quick glance Harumi looked in towards the mirror and took a breath, calmly placing her shaking palms into her lap. She looked up. She was stunning, she had the face of an angel. Smooth, milky pale skin, sky blue eyes, slim pink lips, a small tiny nose. A few strands of her hair fell over her left eye, and she watched as they did so. As they brushed against her skin, emitting a kind of tickling feeling through her ever so sensative face. The girl stared for about a minute at her own reflection. Oh how she wished to look at herself more. But she just couldn't. Not according to the rules.

Harumi looked back down at the floor and her lap reluctantly as her mother, the one who had been cutting her hair turned the mirror around to face away from her. The girl swallowed a nervous lump in her throat.

"Are you nervous about tommorow?..." Her mother sweetly asked with a supportive tone. She was almost just as beautiful as her daughter, accept she was a brunette and had green emerald eyes. Her father is where she got her white hair and blue eyes from, but she certainly got her flawless skin from her mother.

"No.....were you? For your test?..." Harumi's head whipped in her direction and she played on an awkward shrug with a slanted, almost fake smile. Her hair did a graceful swing and bounce as she did this.

"No." Her mother took a few steps up to her daughter whom sat in front of her, placing her hands on her shoulders. "I was terrified but I didn't have any reason to be and neither do you." She cupped the side of the white haired girls soft cheek, putting some of her hair behind her ear. They stared at each other for a while. Mother to daughter. Daughter to mother. Both looked kind of nervous in the heat of the room. The wise women of the room sighed a little and leaned forward, pressing a kiss against Harumi's head.

Today she had to take the test to see which sector she was fit for, but nonetheless she was able to choose. She was truly afraid. Afraid it'd say she'd have to leave her family. Her loved ones. Tell her that she's not abnigation. But she was even more scared the test would tell her to stay in her current sector. And frankly. She didn't like that. She wasn't very good at the essential parts for being Indulgent. She had a temper. Either that or she didn't have the courage to go up and help someone for the fear of being judged in front of a big crowd.

"Mom......" Harumi looked up, her thoughts draining away as she tried to calm the aching panic anxiety out of her. It felt a bit reliving. But also slightly worrying to her as she knew that same feeling of queasyness deep in her gut would occur to her the second she walked into the auditorium across town to take the test. Her lips pressed together a little and her fingers gripped her dress.

"Yes sweetie?.."

"Why do we have to choose...why can't we just be..." Harumi pasued before she dared to continue. "Them all?.."
