Obama ran his fingers through his short, dense hair as he sighed in defeat.
"What's wrong?" His secretary quickly inquired.
"It's the Ebola virus. I can't decide what measures we Americans need to take in order to stop the spread of infection."
"Do we need to do anything, really?"
"Yes, Karen! Yes! We do!" Barack quickly got angrier than Karen had ever seen him.
"I'm sorry, sir. I just...didn't...I...sorry..."
"It's okay. I'm sorry too. I just don't know what do to. Our citizens are in a state of fear and confusion and are looking to me to help. They see any African American as a threat. God knows we already have enough of a racial divide in this country."
"Could we simply send our support?"
"No...no I don't think that would be enough. Enough countries and leaders hate Americans already. If we lose all of our soft power, we'll be rendered useless. We need to help."
"I'm sorry, Mr.President, but I don't think I'm qualified to answer this. We just barely got past the ISIS immediate crisis, and Putin is still threatening nuclear war with America."
"He won't ever do it, that beautiful bastard."
"Still. Our country is scared. And I'm only a secretary."
"Send him in. The best man I know. He can help me."
Karen quickly pressed a few buttons on her phone and held it up to her ear.
"He needs you. You're the only one qualified." Her brow wrinkled in confusion. "No. He requested you." She listened for a moment then thanked the person and hung up. Turning her brown eyes up to Barack, she nodded."He's coming, then?" The president asked.
"Yes. Joe Biden is coming."
