Sideline

0 0 0

Nerves jitter as heartbeats distract
My concentration: now lost-
Forgetting everything I panic, cry
Inside and wait.

Envying the main actor, I wish
I was as talented as the faultless
That stutters as I watch from the sidelines
Shaking.

Fear takes over and then I start
Walking on-this is my part-
I slip, they laugh: the main actor
Covers and makes them clap.

I should stay at the sideline
That's where I belong: talentless hidden by
The talented.
