Walking through the gallery, I see the many “modern art” pieces that only strike me as odd. They almost look the same with their explosion of colors that were consistently on chaos. There was almost no point to their chaotic nature. As a judge, I must judge every piece with fairness and unclouded eyes whether they be a 3D object or a 2D frame, but the repetition has degraded the value of these pieces. Finally, towards the end, I’ve chosen 3 pieces as options for the winner until I turned the corner to see a lone frame on the wall. This one, although chaotic, actually had a message coming through from it. The outer edges were splashed paprika-reds with devil-like figures surrounding the center piece. The center held two people walking, hand in hand, through cream-white clouds. Inside the clouds were angels reaching towards the pair. It wasn’t hard to find the meaning:”I’ll walk through heaven and hell with you.”. This one was different. This one had meaning. All others fell to this one. This one had my vote for having a purpose.
