She sat on the rocks that were just as big as her at the age of 5. Her hair sparkling with the ocean . She simply looked into the distance imagining herself in her own world.
The sky is a vast array of colors moving with the stray clouds pointing towards the sun. The ocean reflected these colors like a mirror.
The little girl slightly tapped the water with her dress shoe creating a perfect ripple down the middle of her scene. She stared down into the spot where she tapped until it calmed down and she could see her own reflection.
She widened her eyes to see that next to her was also another reflection but only a light outline in a glowing baby blue color. In sudden fear she reluctantly looked to her side and softened her expression when she looked at the young man sitting next to her.
"Mister, why do you have no reflection?"
He smiled warmly despite the cold pale color of his face,"Maybe you'll find out someday".He lost his warm expression which faded into a listless look.
The little girl stared into his crystal blue eyes before he turned to walk away. They looked so lonely.
She opened her eyes putting the cloudy grey sky back in its place and the rough ocean at her feet.
She came back the next year with no noticeable physical changes except for an excited look in her eyes for her "imaginary"friend. She ran to the same rock as before and let go of a deep breath as she closed her eyes on the gray world and slipped into her own fantasy.
The scenery took on the same colors but there was more detail in everything around her instead of everything taking on a cartoon-like texture. However the little girl took no mind to anything around her. Instead she looked around her as if trying to find something.
After a few moments, she slumped down with a discontent look on her face looking down into the water dipping her bare toe into the water as she did before.
She closed her eyes in a sad manner for a few moments and when she opened them to look at her own reflection upon the water, her discontent look was replaced with surprise.
The glowing outline was back. She looked to her side to find a Mr.ghost there beside her looking off into the distance relaxing his entire self on a long rock next to the little girl where he could lay his legs comfortably on. He wore a white button up shirt and black pants as if he was going somewhere or has has just come back from something formal.
"Hello mister ghost"The little girl said tugging on his sleeve looking at his eyes intently close to his face.
"Ghost?"he slightly laughed at the greeting,"Has anyone ever told you that your eyes have the same color as your imagination?"the young sir said in a quiet gentle voice staring back at her.
"What's that supposed to mean? Anyway, you never told me why you have no shadow mister"she leaned back to her original position looking a bit puzzled.
"I believe I gave you an answer last time, didn't I?"He lost a bit of his original smile to a small grin facing the ocean.
"No,"She immediately answered back snapping to look at him again flipping her hair onto her face, "that wasn't an answer. I'm not just a dumb little kid"
"I know you aren't. Your a special little kid who is the master of her own world", He smiled at his own comment laying down on his back crossing over onto a rock behind him.
The little girl ruffles her nice dress contemplating how to respond to the compliment, "Anyway, you're talking a lot this time."
"That's something that can only be explained later"he said with a fading smile back into his listlessness. He walked away with the same sad look in his eyes. The world took on a more gray tint as he walked away just like the little girls opening eyes
