                              Fog

A ripple rose up, a colourful Fish who was a mixture of scales and scars. He remembers the Fog as though it were yesterday. A feeling he couldn't stop. Thoughts he didn't want, but wouldn't leave. It's was an invisible layer that fell unknowingly. But he realised overcoming it, made him stronger.

It felt like waking up, as though he left home. Body aching, head spinning, overwhelming shadows. Reality heading to the bottom of the sea, where fear grew, his reluctance was normal. The pressure of the deep made his eye lids heavy even when shut away from the world. But he could choose if he wanted to face crushing eggshells, or float in the sea of his own thoughts.

Many years he drifted through days, like a log in the lake. Never belonging, but going along anyway. Those days he would wake with the gloom and ice, memories dragging along, gut-wrenching like the crows of the surface, scratching their claws along. He trapped himself in a bottle, thrashing against waves, with a fury impossible to tame. Lungs struggling to find peace, not wanting anyone to know he was drowning. It felt eternal that he was struggling - eventually he opened the lid of the bottle, finding the weightless freedom of floating, surviving the Fog.
