Agatha went to New York to look for herself.
Because there was a void inside her that she cannot fill, she decided to go through a journey and she currently stopped in the city that never sleeps.
Carefully, she unpacked her things on the hotel room she rented for two nights.
Deciding on what to do next, she took out a map to look at the places she could go to tomorrow.
Enjoying doing her itinerary too much, she didn’t notice that the sun had already set yet the buildings and people around her were only coming alive.
Finding that it was already late, she called room service to order her dinner.
Gathering her toiletries, she went to the bathroom to do her daily hygienic routine before dinner.
Her name might suggest that she’s really elegant, extravagant and other synonyms, but she’s not.
In contrary, Agatha's actually a really simple, countryside kind of girl.
Just in case you were wondering, she left her home without saying goodbye or even leaving a note, she just packed her things and went off.
Karry, a guy from room service, knocked on her door just as she finished putting her clothes on and was then in the process of drying her hair.
Letting him in, he rolled in the cart containing the meal she ordered, she gave him a tip and said ‘thank you’, and as answer, Karry smiled genuinely at Agatha before leaving.
Munching her food, memories invaded her mind; words that left her broken and unsure of herself; she shook her head, finished her food and got ready for bed.
Next day, Agatha's head was pounding painfully since she wasn’t able to get any continuous sleep last night due to overthinking, again.
Once she got her daily dose of coffee from the Starbucks branch beside the hotel, she walked down the street and watched as the children nearby playfully ran towards their school.
Passing by dozens of shops, she stopped at a public playground and sat on a lonely swing.
Quietly, she took out her phone and started to go through all the pictures she had with Adam, her ex-boyfriend.
Reminiscing the love they lost, tears started flowing down her face; she remembered the last thing Adam told her, “how can you even say you love me if you don’t even love your freaking self?!”
Swiftly, she wiped the tears off her face when a hand offering a handkerchief suddenly appeared in front of her, and even though she shook her head the person standing opposite her insisted, saying that, “go on ahead and take it, I won’t leave until I at least make you feel even just a little bit better.”
The moment she took the handkerchief, the guy sat on the empty swing beside her and said, “Mind telling me what’s wrong? Maybe I can help you.”
Unforeseen, the sudden concern of the stranger for her made her simply stare at the guy for a little while before deciding that it’s probably better to tell a stranger than to tell someone that might judge her for basically knowing her; she took the chance and told him her problems.
Vivid images of that day came rushing to her mind; how he first asked her out as if it was just another date, and then later on proceeded to break her heart.
When the clouds turned grey, the guy decided to say goodbye abut not before introducing himself first; he also told her that she should probably go, too, since it looked like it was about to rain.
Xian, the stranger, was right; he told Agatha, “I know you’re hurt, but do you think it was right for you to just up and leave like that? Don’t you think they’ll worry?” honestly, she didn’t have an answer to that.
“You know what?” he continued when she didn’t say anything, “maybe you already had what you’ve been looking for in different places. You have your friends. Your family. You have a home.” Those words echoed through her mind.
Zipping up her jacket and pulling the hood over her hair, she stoop up, walked through the rain back to where her hotel was, and decided, it’s time to finally go back home.
