Chapter 9:
"Remember that eating competition?"Thalia's POV
I sit up in my bed, my breathing was uneven. It'd been some time after the war, but the images, the voices.. it never leave my head. It keep spinning around.
"Angela!" I yelled through the flames, the ashes do nothing to stop me to run straight to the flame. "Angela!" But however hard I yelled, there was no answer but the sounds of war and the crackled of flames. "N-no! Angela!" No, no no! I can't lose another hunter! No! No no no no no—
I gasp, falling back into the reality. My hand shot up to my racing heart, trying to calm it down. The flames.. the sounds.. it felt real.. it was real. I shook my head, desperate to erase the image, although I know it'll never gone. I force myself to take a deep breath with my nostrils. I can't be distracted. It's not the time to pity myself.
"Bianca.. no-no.." Nico whispered.
I turn, and there was my youngest (eldest?) cousin, sweating and crying in his sleep. I sigh, and walk quietly to his bed. I move his bangs away, and put my palm to his forehead on what I hope was a warm and reassuring gesture.
"Oh, nico.." I said quietly. Nico still hadn't forgive himself for Bianca's death. It'd been 3 years, but he hasn't let go of his mistakes. But I suppose we all are. Looking at his fragile state was enough to make me want to cry myself. Next to him, Percy was sleeping soundlessly. He looks like in peace, but his fists grip the sheets tightly. I won't be surprise if it was torn. I kiss Nico's forehead in friendly gesture, giving Percy a concern look, before heading to the bathroom. I need to clear my head.
After what seems like forever as I seemingly tried to drown myself, I decided it was time to get out. Nico and Percy were nowhere to be seen. I head straight to the kitchen. Knowing them, they were eating the breakfast. And I was right, when I found them inhaling their toasts and orange juice.
I took an empty seat next to Nico, rolling my eyes at the two boys next to me. Mrs. Weasley stroll to me, smiling brightly. "Good morning, Thalia. Here."
She push a full plate towards me. In the plate was 2 pancakes, a scramble egg, and 2 bacons. "Eat it up, dear. You're looking thin."
Percy laugh, but try to conceal it with a cough unsuccessfully. I hit his feet, narrowing my eyes on him. He instantly stop, but the smile was still on his face. I suppose that's all I got, so I turn.
In front of me, Ron Weasley was eating. Eating, as in eating like a pig. He literally put everything in his mouth and he talk while he was eating. I shot him a dirty look as I wipe away the piece of his food on my arm.
"Ron, will you please eat slowly? No one's going to take away your food. And please stop talking while you're chewing. It's disgusting." I glared at him.
He gulp down the food, before giving me a scared look and nod. Do I really look that scary? Eh, whatever. It works, didn't it?
"Like she's better," Percy whispered to Nico. "Remember that eating competition?"
They both laugh loudly. I blush. I did not wanted to remember that time. It was horrid.
"Shut up!" I told the two. "It was one time, and I was forced because I lose a bet!"
"Yeah, sure, whatever you say, Thals." Nico laughed.
I scowl at them. "Like you two are any better. You inhale those foods!"
Percy roll his eyes, "and we're men. But, of course, you're the perfect example of a lady, aren't you, Thalia?" The sarcasm hung heavily on his last sentence.
