"So on a scale of one to ten...how bad are things getting" Professor Crandall asked with a sharp and spy like essence he never displayed in class. His straight posture and intent stare took away about twenty years

"Probably an eleven"...I asked unsure, still feeling like my heart was still swimming in my stomach

"No, more like a seven perhaps..." Erica calmly answered while sipping her tea.

I took a sip of mine, it made sense on why she was so calm...that and the fact she was Erica freaking Hale.

"An eleven would be nuclear destruction on civilization as we know it... we haven't encountered anything of that scale" Erica answered causally

"Yet" interjected Crandall

"Fortunately" I decided to try using optimism for this very stressful situation. At this point situations like interrogations...though evidently weren't going to be taken likely, didn't surprise me.. as nothing in this school really has

"So what's the plan to get Ben to safety and away from the interrogators...anyone of them could be the mole, which would imply deflection or possible death, and worse if the actual CIA does get ahold of him, then their incompetent asses would have him incarcerated." Erica tried to say with an attempt to calm me holding my shoulder lightly

It was just making my heart race and my head buzz

Deflection to the dark side? Possibly slow and painful death? Jail time? It was very clear that the life of the spy was much worse then what Hollywood like to show American audiences

"Well I was reluctant to do this... but I was thinking of sending him with Ashley and Nefarious" Crandall said slowly

Ericas generally cold demanour morphed into anger as her eye started to twitch, and she pursued her lips

"You've got to be kidding me... that's got to be the worse plan you've concocted in your head... your sure that brilliant brain of yours is working Professor Crandall, if you think he's going to be safe with the spies of the biggest potential to deflect" Erica said with such disdain... it was evident this plan didn't sit well with her

"Erica if you wouldn't be so arrogant and believed the facts over your opinions this would be much easier... Benjamin will not be assigned to hiding with those students because I felt like going against my favorite student, but because second to you their also the most brilliant future spies the CIA has...we cannot assign you to be the one to protect him because Benjamin isn't the only one that's being searched it's you... if we have both of you together and captured, that would probably be the most retarded decision I would come up with" Professor Crandall answered with expertise and confidence

"I'll be alright...I trust Professor Crandall" I looked to Erica with hopefully the most convincing face I could pull from my ass

She still return my look with uncertainty

"He better be in the right hands Crandall...I wouldn't be able to forgive you if Ripley is compromised...he's too important... to the mission" she said slowly and reluctantly admitting to Crandall plan

As I prepped to get in my hideaway Erica grabbed me to the side and whispered very very quietly I wasn't even sure I heard her correctly but what I picked up was

"This could go South"  Erica pressed something in my hands

It was a gum piece, and before I had a chance to ask Erica was gone from my sights

Professor Crandall activated a trap door from under me, and suddenly his faculty home vanished and was replaced by a setting of subterranean tunnels, barely lit, and super cold

And filled with bags and bags of potatoes

Without Ericas help I realized staying in the same spot would be just as bad as a sitting duck

So I forced myself to navigate the maze...when to lights away a figure ambushed me and took me down to the floor

I knew it wasn't Erica

And I knew I was screwed
