Star Trek Assimilation part 5

Bandit barked at the trapped Borg who tried to grab the dog. BANDIT ! GET OVER HERE ! Thomas shouted. The dog quickly compiled and ran over to his boy. Typing frantically on the control station Thomas knew other Borg would be here soon. He finished entering the program and was about to execute it when he saw Borg coming toward him. Rushing to the door he hit the lock down on the door keyboard. The heavy metal door slam shut as the Borg crashed into it. There hands pounded on the door wanting to get in. Thomas went back to the computer terminal to finish and get away when a voice came over the intercom. Thomas , open the door the voice commended. Turning around Thomas is white as a sheet when he saw his father at the lab glass window as a assimilate Borg.
His father repeat again to open the door, all Thomas could do is stare at the site of his undead father. His heart wanted to be with him again to be held by him and tell him how much he loves him. In his mind Thomas knew if he let his father in he would be dead , with all the courage he could summon he walk up to the safely glass and said my father is dead you are just some monster that wants to make me like you. The monster moved with great speed and smash through the glass. It grabbed Thomas by the hair and started to pull him through the opening. He scream and fought to get free, pulling out his phaser firing wildly . The phaser fire shot every were causing damage and starting a fire.
Seeing his boy in danger , Bandit moved into action. Bolting at the thing grabbing Thomas the dog leap up and sunk his teeth deep into the arm of the Borg. Sparks shot out from its arm as the dogs teeth cut its servos. The Borg swung its arm hard trying to get the dog off and pull the boy toward him for assimilation. Then with a lucky shot the phaser beam bounce of a mirrored surface and hit the Borg in its left eye. It loosen its hold on Thomas who kick with all his strength pulled free. But not before losing some hair and a deep bleeding laceration on his head.
The Borg recovered quickly and thorough the dog hard against the wall. The dog cried out in pain as it landed on the floor, wiping the blood from his head , Thomas pick up his dog and carried him to the transport pad as the Borg smashed the glass and chased after him . But the Borg were to late. Thomas hit energize and were transported away. His program sent out multiple transport signals making it impossible for the Borg to trace him.
Rematerializes in back at the starfleet site with the power source and his injured dog. He set the dog down carefully , then ran to get a med kit. Thomas was unsure what to do , there was no manual on how to help dogs to read. Still he tried but Bandit was to hurt to survive, he licked his boy's face goodbye then shut his eyes for the last time. Thomas cried and begged for Bandit not to go, he held onto his friend until the body grew cold.
He buried Bandit under some rocks on top of a hill overlooking the red sea. The boy had no more tears to give for his fateful friend, as he looked up at the Borg ships something inside the boy had changed. He was no longer a curious , caring child . if you could see his heart it had turned black filled with hate for the inhuman things that killed everyone he ever cared about. Now he is a monster to, A monster that wanted only one thing, vengeance. Thomas would have it at whatever the cost.
Walking for three days straight, not stopping to rest or eat Thomas reach the site where the Borg are drilling into the planet. He tried to get as close as he could but the heat and unstable ground made it to dangerous to get closer. So he link two tricorders together then throw one as hard as he could . it landed next to the rim of the hole. Thomas looked over the data and aloud himself to feel some amazement at what is being done. Somehow the Borg are draining the planets core to be transfer into raw power. But for what he didn't know , what he did know was how to destabilize the drill beam and corrupt the power so the Borg couldn't use it. He just needed to add some antimatter into the mix.
The walk back Thomas planned ever step to accomplish his chance of vengeance. As he sat to rest the isolation is taking a toil on him, shapes in the distance looked like people and shadows appeared like attacking Borg which he shot. Sleeping was impossible , nightmares were all he had. Finally returning to the empty starfleet base he gather everything he needed and program the transporter for his last run. Then took on container of antimatter to toss in the drill beam. If his math is right he'll have only ten minutes to get away before the drill beam is destroyed and surges back to the Borg ship and explodes.
Pulling a make shift wagon Thomas started to the Borg drill site. Exhaustion hit Thomas hard, only sleeping less then and hour and barely eating. His hate of the Borg was the only thing keeping him going. It took and extra day to reach the site. He put on his oversized spacesuit and remote access the transporter . Then he pick up the antimatter container and throw it as hard as he could. Unfortunately Thomas in a weaken state didn't have the strength to throw it far enough. He had to go pick it up and try again. But the seismic activity would make that difficult and dangerous.
