Chapter Nine

"Okay guys, we need to be down at the dance studio in a few minutes!" Leigh announced, smiling brightly like usual, and putting on some dance clothes. I repeated her actions and grabbed my water bottle, making my way to the door of our room, ready to leave.

"You know," Coralie popped out, "for a girl group, we really don't spend all that much time together. It's like, we only go to rehearsals and perform together. Besides that, we act like we're enemies and hang out with all the different acts. It's... weird."

           "It's true," Molly sighs.

"Fine," I speak up, "we'll talk and stuff in the dance studio, you know? Tomorrow we can go shopping together, I guess. But I understand what Leigh's saying. We need to look like we have great chemistry on stage or people won't buy into us, you know?"

"Exactly!" she claps, twisting the door knob and pulling the door open.

Our dance routine was really high energy this week. We had to run along the stage and do all these special girl-band classic moves. It was really fun since the song was at a high energy level. Leigh had the first verse, Coralie had the second and we harmonized the chorus. I had the verse after the first chorus while Molly did the last verse as we harmonized. I think it was going to be a challenging performance, but hopefully one of our best.

"So, Ingrid," Coralie smiles mischievously in my direction, "I've heard you and George have something going on... is it true?!"

"Definitely not true," I hiss, "I hate him and he hates me. Nothing more to it, I swear. We just kissed once, you know? Now everyone and their mother think we're dating. It's annoying, okay? Can we just drop it?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't know it bothered you that much."

              "Well, it does."

              "Okay."

After that, there was an awkward silence. I stood off by one end of the dance lounge, a bit pissed whilst Coralie shifted her weight sheepishly by the window.

"Okay guys, five minute break is up!" Leigh yelled out, "let's go through the routine one more time, yeah? Then we can go to lunch and head off to rehearsals. But I really think we should go through it again, just to be sure."

"Alright," we mumble in chorus while getting into our positions.

"From the top!" she smiles, pushing the CD player on and making the music start again.

We were half way through the song when the door slammed shut and locked. I got a bit shocked but Molly said it was fine, since she had a key. I assumed it would all be fine. But then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, there was a blast outside the large window. We all screamed and jumped up.

            "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?"

            "IT SOUNDED LIKE A BULLET!"

"OH MY GOD, WE'RE GOING TO DIE!"

"DID JAMES DROP HIS GUITAR OUT THE WINDOW AGAIN?"
