you didn't need to sleep that night.

the lights shining through your window were a reminder that the city was very much alive at the moment. yet you stayed inside your home, trying to ignore the painful starvation in your stomach.

"hold on for just a bit longer." you mumbled to yourself.

you were already used to starving for long periods, but this time, it was taking a toll on you and your being. you could feel your body starting to rebel against your restrains but you wouldn't let it win. you knew you could hold off until another three days. the need for blood was there inside you, but your morals kept you from doing anything extreme. you still remembered the first time you'd gone mad and you did not want to repeat that again.

"i'm hungry y/n! it's been three weeks. j-just give in," the woman whined, "for me, at least?"

you sighed at your familiar. she surely wasn't patient but that's why you had a thing for her. she was what a vampire should be, while you were the opposite. but, you wanted to be different. human. and that had brought you to being an outcast to you kin.

"then why did you follow me in the first place casaidy?" you turned to face her with a solemn face.

casaidy sighed and rubbed her face with a slow hand but she didn't try to return to the topic of feeding. she wore a wary face. her hair was tied in a long ponytail and her clothes were slightly messy. you wondered what made her follow you outside of the family's household when she was already a familiar that was well respected and turned. yet you knew the woman had a strong bond with you, even if she was just a familiar, she was family to you now.

"you know your mother told me to go with you and protect you. my mistress knew what you were up to and she knew that you wouldn't be able to fully associate with humans unless you had one that had been one." casaidy laid her head on the pillow that was on her bed as she looked at the moon that had its rays pouring into the dim room.

your interest piqued at the known fact of casaidy once being a human. you, of course, didn't remember when casaidy had come into the family household as a servant and human familiar because you hadn't been born. yet you were young when you saw her be bitten and turned. she still talked about it until this very day. of how she felt like she'd finally found her place in the world after all her time being a human, when she'd awakened into the dark world with renewed and enhanced senses. casaidy always remarked that she'd been born into a new life that day.

"casaidy?"

she turned her face to look at you with dark-black eyes. her skin was so pale these days unlike the first years you'd met her, when her face had always been flushed with pink and her lips naturally rosy. the memories of her being a human were still there inside your mind, even if you were four at the time when you'd seen her as a human, "yes?"

"do you miss being a human?" you whispered the question as if someone would find you and kill you for asking it.

casaidy's face shifted into one of pondering, "i... guess i do miss some aspects of being human, but... i don't think any of them are worth thinking of when being a vampire."

you frowned at casaidy's answer but held back your questions. instead, an idea formed in your head.

"casaidy."

"mhm?"

your eyes widened at your own thought but once it left your lips, you were intrigued by it, "i want to go to one of those bars you used to talk about so much."

the woman frowned deeply at your words and then scoffed. she started to sarcastically chuckle as if what you'd said was funny. you pouted and quickly got out of your bed to go sit down in casaidy's. you went for the puppy eyes, trying to persuade her to take you. you wanted to go so badly, to encounter with humans.

"please? for mother?" you added. casaidy lightly scowled at you but the tips of her lips were on the verge of a mischievous smile.

"my mistress would not want me to take you to places like those." she tsked and looked away from you.

"please casaidy?" you really wanted to go and get out of this house and just enjoy the youthful night without having to go hunt like the creature you were.

casaidy looked off into the distance and you grinned, knowing she was thinking about it. a little more begging and you could break the familiar.

"but y/n-... what if you can't control yourself?" casaidy murmured with a glint of worry starting to form in her irises.

you pursed your lips but after some thought you shook your head. you knew that after the accident that'd happened not too long ago you'd discipline yourself even harder and learn to live a human lifestyle. you'd learn to blend in.

"don't worry casaidy, i will."

casaidy's brows creased and her features turned grim. you sighed and laid your head on her lap while she kept her view somewhere else. you knew she was thinking of what'd happened. you knew she was worried for the safety of both of you guys. she'd gotten accustomed to helping you in your troubles but you knew that she was scared of your hunger and the fact that you could kill if you wanted to, at any time and any where with no notice beforehand.

"you sure y/n?" she whispered softly.

you nodded your head and bit your bottom lip. you knew your guilt would keep you from doing so.

"over his body, i swear i'll control myself."

casaidy sighed and shifted her form until she was in a sitting position. you lifted your head and looked at her as you waited for the answer you hoped. she saw your awaiting eyes and rolled her eyes with a playful smile.

"fine, get dressed, i'll take you."

you squealed like a fan girl and stood up so suddenly that you almost fainted right then and there from the lack of blood. you tried to hide the reaction but casaidy noticed and her expression softened. you tried to crack a smile to hide the scene but you knew she'd seen.

"...as long as we go hunting afterwards."

you groaned at yourself and facepalmed at the compromise.

"you know you need it as much as I do. don't fight it." she whined like in the beginning.

you huffed but knew what you had to do.

"so, yes?"

"fine, we'll go hunting after we go to the bar place."

casaidy smirked and nodded her head.

"alright, get ready and hurry up. the night will only last so long for us."

"yeah, yeah, let's just hope this place is worth it." you moved to the closet in the room and opened it to find your clothes for tonight. mostly all of it was black colors, but you knew casaidy would help you choose.

the woman was still at her bed with a knowing face that you wanted to question so badly.

"mmm, i have a feeling it will."
