The rumours say he’s the Waterloo of the western seas,
This pirate brought even the best men down to their knees;
he then steals their gold and loots their treasure,
feeling no guilt, and in fact, taking sick pleasure;
he’d killed and tortured without remorse, no less than;
he was a shadow of a man, a monster of a man.
Fluffy white clouds and salty ocean air, ‘twas a charming day of days,
On the calm blue seas, stained red with the blood of stowaways;
A man pleaded for mercy, for him to spare his only child,
Unburdened by morals and concept of love, the pirate merely smiled;
He slaughter’d them both, first the child in front of his father, just ‘cuz he can,
And for he was a shadow of a man, a monster of a man.
As the evening progressed on, the pirate was quite content;
Per usual, he indulged on his quest for poor souls to torment;
Swish! Thud! The pirate stopp’d and grinn’d, the sound came from ‘neath the floor;
He found the stowaway, cramped under his crafty trap door;
He was speechless and staring, the stowaway was a pretty woman,
And her, back at him, the shadowed monster of a man.
Neither of them spoke, each waiting for the other’s word,
The deafening silence of their unspoken stories, but were they unheard?
Confused by this sentiment, and he wondered if she felt it too,
She finally said, “I’m Anne...I’ve heard much about you.”
So why wasn’t she afraid? She had the chance, she should have ran
From him, a shadow of a man, a monster of a man.
About anything and everything, they talked through the night,
She made him feel again, being with Anne, it just felt so right;
He felt like he could change for the better, renounce his old ways;
This sentiment (was it love?) lit his whole world ablaze;
Why she chose to care about him, he’ll be damned;
A shadow of a man, a monster of a man.
