I'm the girl they're looking for, great. I'm only trying to survive in this shit world and now this happens. I was running as fast as I can, but running through woods isn't that easy. I almost tripped over a rock but could recover fast. Could I fight them? I know the basics, but they probably know more and could win with one hand on their back. I glance over my shoulder to see how close they are. I probably shouldn't have done that. They are too close. But this Erin guy wasn't running with them. I smiled, maybe I hurt his little ego.
I keep running, jumping over rocks and other things that could make me fall. I know don't these woods well enough, I have no idea where to go. The faint smell of mint started to fill my nose again. No, not again. Where is he? Where is this Erin guy? I started to look around me, to find him. But that was a mistake, my foot got stuck in some roots. I fell, broke my fall with my hands. Pain shoots through my hands. "Please, stop running. This is unnecessary." I turn around. Erin was standing a couple of metres away from me. I couldn't move my foot. I started to panic, Erin was getting closer. I take my sword from my back and start cutting the roots around my foot. "I think it's better if you stop this and just come with me. I don't want to hurt you." He was standing right before me the moment my foot got free. Out of instincts I kicked him against his knee, it did absolutely nothing. He looks at me with a what looks like disappointment. And then everything starts to get blurry and again the smell of mint surrounds me. "You leave me no choice." He bends over to pick me up, his 2 shades of blue coloured eyes are the last thing I see before everything turns black. I'm sorry mom is the last thing I think.I wake up, I sit up too fast and the everything around me spins a little. Where am I? What happened? I'm on a bed, blankets over my legs, a pillow behind me, mattress is not too hard but also not too soft. I look around me, I'm in a small room. No windows, no tables, nothing else beside my bed and one door. They really caught me, I hoped it was a nightmare again. I pull my legs up to my chest, put my arms around them. And I start to cry softly. Lord Kaye has me now and I have no idea why he needs me. Maybe he wants to use me... no that would be insane. There is nothing special about me. Just a girl from Night whose family got killed and now she's trying to survive. Just a normal human girl. Night was a terrible place for a child to survive, so I started to move. At the age of 8 I started to discover these lands. I started to learn more about it. But I know nothing about Lord Kaye, I never listened to the stories about him and now I realise I should have.
I look around the room again, all of a sudden some sort of light turns on. I look up at the ceiling, a small ball of light was floating there. The room was still empty. I want to stand up but almost knock some thing over on the floor. A bowl with soup. They gave me food. I'm too hungry to think about it more clearly, so I start eating.
They gave me three meals a day, it appeared on the floor and when I was done it was just poof gone. The drinks I got with them was different each time. I haven't seen anyone, not Erin, not Lord Kaye, not a single person. I have no idea how long I've been here, but it has been long enough for me to gain some weight. Maybe being here wasn't as bad as I thought.
I think it has been two weeks. Two weeks of eating, sleeping and staring at a wall. No noises, complete silence all the time. The guards outside were always quiet, never said a word to each other. I know they are there though. I started to hum, I think I'm slowly losing my mind. I am going to kill Lord Kaye. The thought scared me, but also felt right. Not like I could ever hurt someone like him. A knock on my door, I didn't respond. As if yelling "leave me alone" would actually make them leave. The door opened, someone steps inside. I was still staring at the wall but stopped humming. "You look better, but also terrible. And maybe you could use a bath." The moment he started talking, I moved my head to look at him. Erin, in normal clothes this time. A white shirt, brown pants, nothing special. "How nice of you to knock, but I never said you could come in." The comment left my mouth before I could even think about it. "And I never asked if you wanted to punch me, yet it happened." I smiled at him. He didn't look amused at all. "Get up. I'll bring you to another room so you can clean yourself. Kaye wants you to join him for dinner." He said his name as if they've known each other for ages, as if they are friends. "Wait, he wants to have dinner with me?! He locked me up in," I point around me at the room." Whatever this is supposed to be. No one ever told me the reason why I'm here and now he wants to have dinner?!" I was getting mad, wanting to throw stuff at Erin. He didn't seem to really care though. He looked annoyed, started to rub his forehead. "I'll be honest with you, I have no idea if you're even the girl we are looking for." I open my mouth to say something but he ignores me and continues. "I'm only following orders. So please, get up and come with me. I don't want to make you fall asleep again and carry you away." He turns around and walks into the hallway, waiting for me to come. Could this be my option to run away? "You can't run away if that is what you're thinking about." Did he just read my mind? Or maybe it was just obvious. I get up and walk towards him. "Okay Erin, I'll come with you." His body tensed up. "How do you know my name?" His voice was deeper than usual. "Someone said it, you know I'm not deaf." He walks away without saying anything to me, so I follow him. The moment I step outside the room, my vision goes black. "Uhh, Erin I can't see anything. So following you is gonna be difficult." If this is some sort of joke, I will punch him again. "Oh I'm sorry, I should've told you. I can't show you what this place looks like. We don't want you planning an escape." I can hear him smiling. I feel his finger around my wrist. "If I fall because of you, I will cut you." I have nothing to cut him with but I will find a way. He laughs at my poor threat. We continue walking, his hand still around my wrist. "So Erin, how is your jaw? Did I ruin your pretty face?" I know I didn't hit him hard enough to actually "ruin his pretty face". He ignores me. I smile, knowing I annoyed him a bit. "Must be embarrassing, getting hit by a human infront of your men. They're probably still making fun of you." His grip tightens around my wrist. I was really getting on his nerves, this was too easy. Then my foot hit something and I fell forward. Erin was still holding on to my right wrist so I could only break my fall with one hand. But my hand hit the surface hard and earlier than I expected. A staircase. "Oh sorry, forgot to tell you. We have to walk some stairs now." I'll have to cut him when I get the chance. With a small throbbing pain in my hand and knees I follow Erin up the stairs. We walk back into a hallway. Where was he taking me? It started to feel like he was making fun of me and we were just walking in circles. I didn't notice he stopped walking and I walk into him. "You have to remember I can't see Erin, tell me when I have to stop and stuff." He doesn't reply. I hear a door opening, he pulls me in and closes the door behind him. My vision started to come back.I was in a room, a bedroom to be more specific. A giant bed on my right, two big closets on my right and a giant mirror. And in the middle of the room, a girl. Long, straight blonde hair and light blue eyes. She looked at me with a small smile on her lips. She moved her eyes to Erin and back to me. "Hello." Is all she says. Erin nods at her, his way of greeting. "I'll be back in an hour." This situation felt a bit awkward so I said nothing. Erin walks away and closes the door behind him. I turn back to the girl. She's smaller than me. She almost looks fragile, one blow and she'll fall over. Half of her face is hidden behind her hair. She's fidgeting with the dress she's wearing. Her cheeks turn a little pink. I was staring again. She looks nervous. "Hello, again. I'm Olive and I'm here to.." She pauses, looks at something behind me and says "I don't even know exactly why I'm here. Keep an eye on you maybe? Help you around?" She shrugs and shakes her head. She doesn't seem to know much, but I have to ask her. "Do you know why I'm here?" Her hands stop moving and she looks down at her feet. She looks like she's thinking about something. "I'm afraid I can't tell you." She points at a door I didn't see before. "There is a bathtub in there, since Erin wants you to clean yourself." I get the hint and walk away to the door. The bathroom was big, but it only had a faucet with a giant mirror surrounding it and the bathtub. The left side of the room was entirely made out of glass. When I get closer the other side of it is all blurry. "You can't see what's on the other side, but it's the garden. They really don't want you to escape." Olive was standing in the door frame. "You can just put your clothes on the floor, I got some clean ones ready for you. Don't worry it's not a dress." She looks down at her own dress and softly says:"I hate this thing." She looks back up at me, her cheeks are still pink. "The bathtub is already filled with warm water, the soaps should be next to it. I'll give you some privacy now, if you need me I'm right here." She gives me a genuine smile and walks away. Erin will be here soon, so I undress and get in the tub. The moment I get fully in all my muscles relax.
