Chapter 2

As I'm sitting in homeroom, I hear the announcement:

Attention. Will all Students auditioning for the Sing For Dreams competition please report to the auditorium, at this time? All Students auditioning in the Sing For Dreams competition please report to the auditorium. Thank you.

Instantaneously,  I grab my books, makeup bag, and songbook, and sprint out of the classroom. This is the moment I've been waiting for, I think to myself. Won't be long, now. I get so distracted, due to my anxiety about the competition, that I can't see where I'm going. Suddenly, I bump into someone, stumble a bit, and fall back.

"Sorry." I reply, nervously.

"It's okay." He answers. I can tell it's a guy by the sound of his voice. As my vision, finally, clears up, I see the person I've only dreamed about seeing. His eyes, a brilliant blue. His hair, blonde, with a tint of brown. He's taller than I am, and has the cutest accent. But I can't seem to remember his name.

"I'm April," I say, very shakily. I stand up, and reach out my hand.

"I'm Niall." He replies, as he shakes my hand. "It's nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you, too." My knees grow weak, instantly. "Are you one of the judges for today's competition?" I ask, very shakily.

"Yes, I am."He replies. "Are you a competitor?"

"Yeah, but there's only one problem."

"What's that?" He looks at me, confused, as we walk up the mocha stairs to the auditorium on the third floor.

"I have stage fright." I confess. "My hands start shaking, as soon as I step foot on a stage. I start feeling like there's not enough air, around me, I hyperventilate, and if it gets really bad, I faint, because of it."

"Oh."He answers. "Well, do you have someone in the audience, today, who you trust?"

"Yeah," I reply. "He told me that he negotiated to get front row tickets from you guys for the competition. His name is Shea."

"Oh. I know him."

"You do?" My mind starts to wander into the many ways Shea could've told me this. But, he couldn't confess such a big secret, even to his closest friends. They'd be all over him.

"Yeah. We met when he visited London a couple years ago. We became mates from there." I smile at him, trying to hide complete fear, as we make it to the auditorium. So many kids fill the audience, I almost faint. Niall catches me, as he slowly takes me backstage. "You okay?" He asks.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I reply, my voice quaking with every word. "I'm.. I'm just nervous. That's all." His brilliant blue eyes meet mine for a brief moment, and, almost instantly, I look down at my heels.

"April, I'm sure you'll do fine." He replies, assuringly. "You can do this." My chocolate brown eyes, now revealing a ring of blue, fill with tears. I sit down on a red chair, and see more people coming backstage. For that moment, it was just Niall and I.
