Many men died for independence and slavery on July 4th, 1863 when the north won over the small town. They fought with courage and the spirit of a warrior. Thousands of men died during the Siege of Vicksburg. Our beloved lie in the cemetery from this war. More history is scattered all over Vicksburg. The National Military Park is known very well and is my favorite park of all. Those who hate history, beware.
