Beep. Beep. Beep.

That annoying sound kept bothering me.

Beep. Beep.  Beep

Where did that noise come from?

It couldn't possibly come from my room, plus the bed was much more firm and harder than my own. The beeping continued and I knew I couldn't have been lying in my own bed since that awful sound would've been flung out the room by me. I tried to pry my eyes open, but I couldn't since they felt as heavy as lead.

"When will she wake up Doc?" I didn’t recognize that voice, were they talking about me?  Was I in the hospital? What happened? What was going on?

Images flashed before my eyes, the Mafia, my father! Due to the thought of my father my eyes flew wide opened. That terrible sound that was coming from the machine next to me began beeping faster.

Immediately, the doctor stood beside my bed and stuck a needle in my arm. It didn’t make much sense to why he did that, but soon the drug gave its effect and I calmed down; falling into long, dreamless sleep.

How much time has passed since my first awakening, that I didn’t know. After I trying to open my eyes for a second time - this time slower  - I noticed that it was early in the morning.

The hospital ... I had to find my father! I needed to know what happened to him.

With a great deal of difficulty I turned from the bed to begin the search for my father.  Ignoring the searing pain that was caused by that damned bullet, I staggered out of the room to look for the only remaining family member I have left. The same doctor who had brought me to a deep sleep began running towards me.

"Miss Grey, you are not supposed to be out of bed!" He lectured me. Ruthlessly he picked me up. The excruciating pain was rising again. "Let me go!"

I tried to break free so I hit him. I was angry that he had the audacity to publicly throw me over his shoulder.

"Miss Grey, please calm down.” The pain got worse with every movement I made. Eventually it became too much for me to bear plus the fact that and I was exhausted. When I have enough energy, I will force him to take me to my father, whether he likes it or not.

---------------

Back in my room were I had waked up, there are two people waiting for me. Both seemed relieved to see me. I looked at them questioningly. The doctor went and stood at a safe distance, as if he knew that the next conversation would not be a nice one. "What's going on ...?" I asked suspiciously.

‘I'm Nathan Maldini, and this is my wife Victoria France.  We work with your father.‘ I frowned. Not knowing where he was getting at. I didn’t even know these persons standing before me. "We have promised your father that if something were to happen to him, we would take care of you..."

The words just don't seem to get through to me. And then it clicked. My heart was beginning to beat faster.  "What do you mean? There's fucking nothing wrong with my father!" He couldn’t be dead. No. I would never forgive myself. He can’t just ... be dead. Nathan glared at the doctor, who cleared his throat uncomfortable and stepped towards me, nevertheless keeping some distance.

"Miss Grey .... Your father .. he is in a coma "

A coma? For a moment I had forgotten the meaning of the word. A coma.. Then i realised what he was saying. On the one hand I was relieved that he isn’t  dead. On the other hand he isn’t really alive either.

I could still not believe what had happened. My eyes widened.  "You're lying! You’re all lying, this is some sort of sick joke, you can’t take him away  from me' I was pretty sure the whole hospital would have heard me by now, but I didn’t care.  The machine next to me began to beep dangerously. Immediately there were two nurses in the room, both held me when I started hitting the air around me.
