Mom drops me in front of the new school. It's huge but I've already seen it. I drove by numerous times so I could take a look at the people hanging out in front of it or smoking at the corner.
People seem nice and welcoming but I've always been an optimist. I've always seen everything through red-coloured glasses and haven't really cared if I was perceived as a naive girl. I am a naive girl.
I kiss my mom on a cheek and tell her to have a good day. I get out of the car and slam the door. Nobody's paying attention to me. It's the beginning of March. Everyone is excited for the upcoming Spring Break. I bet they are all talking about it and making plans.
I am excited as well but I must find friends first. Even though I don't consider it as a big deal - I have always been good at it.
I walk past a group of boys that are smoking. I make an eye contact with one of them and he smiles. They are all wearing leather jackets and they look more like a gang than normal teenage boys.
I am headed towards the entrance but somebody stops me. It's the guy in the leather jacket. He's thrown away his cigarette but I can still smell the smoke.
"Hey new girl. What's your name?"
"Hi. I'm Olivia. And I am not a new girl, we have Chemistry class together, Trevor." I tease him. He looks a bit surprised for a second. He's silent so I turn around and continue towards stone steps.
When I am in the middle of them he catches me up and he grins. "I am sure that I've never seen your beautiful face before, Olivia. And my name is not Trevor. I am Sam."
"I'm flattered you called me beautiful," I roll my eyes. What does he think about himself? And for the record, it's not even that cold so there isn't point in wearing that leather jacket.
We walk through a huge wooden door and enter the entrance hall. It's full of students and chatter. I haven't seen a noisier school.
"Can I walk you to the Chemistry class we are not taking together?"
"Sure, I won't be able to find it myself."
"So.. when did you move in?"
"Last week, why?"
"Is it your fist day of school?"
"It is." I nod. He's so annoying but he is cute. I bet he is some school lover because every girl we pass kills me with her sight. I was in this position before, when I lived in Spain.
There was this bad boy, we may call it. Every girl wanted to win his attention but it was me who he chose. I did love him, but It was a long time ago. We were both fifteen and the bad boy thing wasn't even taken seriously. Back then girls read way too many wattpad stories and thought that a guy that was in a school team and was favoured by girls was a bad boy. By the way, they hated me. I didn't have a single girl friend. I only hung out with boys.
"By the way, you can come to our party we are throwing next week - it's the spring break one."
"I'll think about it.." I say when someone stops us. It is a girl with light brown hair and the cutest smile I've ever seen.
"You must be Olivia Silverston! Come with me, I am supposed to show you the school." After she says it she gives Sam a shady look. He groans but doesn't protest.
"See you around Olivia." He turns to the girl and says: "And you.. you're welcome."
He turns around and runs to the big door. I bet he is going to light another cigarette.
"What was that all about?"
"Don't worry, you'll get used to him. I'm Phoebe. And sorry if Sam bothered you. I just told him to stop the new girl."
"How did..?"
"I showed him your pic. I am the class president and I was asked to show.."
"Are you guys a thing?" I ask. I am puzzled. Why was he flirting with me if he has a girlfriend?
"Me and Sam?! No way. He is my brother. But the Queen B of this school is his girlfriend - Amanda."
"Are you kidding me?"
"Actually I am."
What is wrong with those people?
"She is the girlfriend of the King of this school - Cameron Henderson."
I hope nobody calls him King of the school. It's a bit too much.
"And there they are," she looks behind my shoulder and I must turn to see them. How humiliating. But it's worth it.
She is a model, not a high school student. I must say that I am not surprised at all. Long legs, straight blonde hair and big blue eyes. I can't forget to mention the superior face she makes. She is looking at us from the heaven. More like from the hell.
On the other hand, Cameron looks normal. He is hot for sure, but I wouldn't die for him. He is tall, muscular and with dark brown hair. I can't see his eyes because of the expensive sunglasses he's wearing. But it's all right, I don't really care. I turn back to Phoebe who hypnotises him and I roll my eyes. I am immune. I've always been.
I'm into cute guys that are soft and would do the whole world for me.
"Isn't he lovely?"
"No. He isn't."
"Okay, let's go. We must be done until the very last lesson of yours. What is it by the way?"
"Chemistry."
"Great."
