Just Like A Dream

I woke up to a blinding light searing my tired eyes. I blinked several times to clear the sleepy haze. Above me a large sun shone against the bright, blue sky. I slowly rose from the soft, green grass I was lying on.

A young woman stood at a balcony facing me. Her long, aurburn hair fell in wisps from a ponytail. Two rich, green eyes sparkled brightly againts her tan skin which was speckled in freckles. With the sun glowing down on her she looked like a goddess. The word beautiful was too little to describe her. The strange woman held out her hand and helped me up, giving me a golden smile.

"Come on! Give me a smile," the woman chuckled making me realize I was still gaping.

"Because?" I asked finally closing my mouth.

"Because," she paused waiting for the right words to come. "Just, because." She teased. Every time she smiled it made my heart flutter and hand grow warm in her oddly cold one. There was such a raw, honest type of beauty about her. One I'd never seen in anyone else before.

"Take a seat." She beckoned a table and chair not to far away. It looked like one from a dinner, with its dark, oak top covered in a scarlet cloth with gold trim and a pot of flowers placed in the center.

For the first time since I got here I took a step back and took in my surroundings. I was on a balcony somewhere, overlooking  the sea. The columns and fences was covered in ivy and flowers. I took a seat at the table and let the awaiting silence fall around us.

"Where am I?" I gasped finally finding my voice. She giggled as though it was obvious.

"You're dreaming silly!" She beamed. Dreaming? Thousands of questions filled my head and I didn't know what to ask.

"I picked this out of your imagination," she grinned. "Quite creative aren't you."

"Yeah, I always used to draw as a child." I muttered absentmindedly. Why was I telling her all this? She had this kind of face that made you want to spill your life story in front of her.

"If this is a dream, who are you?" I inquired. She gave a mischievous grin before replying.

"A stowaway," I grinned, but I still couldn't quite understand what was going on.

"Oh come on!" She moaned "I'm wasting my best material here! It might be the last time you see me anyway, stop asking questions and make the most of it."

"Alright then," I sighed kicking back on my chair. " I'm Jessica Payne, how about you?"

"Willow Bates," she sang happily.

"Nice name." I complemented, and so the day went on. We talked and chatted, spilling secrets and making promises and every hour I spent there the less I wanted to leave. However if I did wake up right now, there was one thing I wanted to ask, so I popped the question.

"So is there a special someone in your life?" I hinted.

"Unfortunately no," she clarified. "Unless your asking," she added with a sly wink.

"I would have thought some one that beautiful would have men drooling over her," I purred back. God, we were flirting like a married couple. I laughed to myself, we were two total flirts fighting for the last word.

"Have you ever been on a date before?" I questioned.

"Yes," she responded, looking distracted. "I went to the cinema to see Avatar the Last Airbender when it was first released. What sweet sixteens." When it was first released? That was twenty years ago, she would be thirty-six. A young face and teenage body, this girl looked twenty max. Something wasn't right.

"What about you then," she asked, shoving me out of my thoughts.

"No, no. Single Pringle right here," I joked. "I haven't found the right one for me."

"And who is the right one for you?" She pressured, leaning forwards in her chair.

"Girls," I faltered. Every time I'd come out before it was either disgust or not very well hidden shock. However I looked up to see a honest grin spreading over her face.

"Same!" She exclaimed. Something warmed in my heart. Not only had someone accepted me, they were really pretty too. I couldn't let this be the last time I see her. I just couldn't.

"So, if I go to sleep again, will I be able to come back here?" I guessed, praying I was right.

"If you think hard enough," she explained.

"Great!" I cheered. "Tomorrow night then?"

"A date?" She cooed, smiling sweetly.

"A date," I promised.

"Alright then, I'll be there." She chirped. "But right now, you need to wake up." She walked over and placed a gentle kiss on my cheek, as the room faded to black.

I opened my eyes to a familiar bedroom. I lay in my room, entangled in sheets with the morning light shining through my window. I threw of my covers and placed my bare feet on the carpet. I couldn't help but smile.

I had a date.
