not even gonna lie this is based off a klaroline scene that I thought would fun to make it into a destiel one so for the kc stans reading this let's see how many lines you can see that are of Klaus or Caroline's real lines ;)

Getting half of someone isn't always fun, wishing they would as much attention you would to give to them. Showing them how much you care, but the feeling like it was never enough, like you weren't enough for the person, hurts. Especially when they couldn't even say say those three simples words. What was the point if you couldn't yet the other could? Was there some real love anyways? Was the other stringing the innocent along?

That was the case for Dean and Cas, Cas was the one who cared too much but Dean was the one who didn't show it enough. Of course a relationship had its ups and downs, but at the same time Cas couldn't handle the stress of it all. He even said those three words to him and Dean was to shocked to not even say them back.

They were two idiots in love that didn't know how to control their emotions. Maybe it was due to them just finishing up high school and Cas was heading off to college the next day. Maybe it was Dean being scared that if he finally gave it all into someone, there would be consequences. He just never thought he would lose Cas the way he did.

That was 2 years ago, Dean was now working at his Uncle Bobby's mechanics shop while Cas was at college studying to become a doctor.
Not a single day went by that somehow he was reminded of what he had lost. He hated it with all his guts and wished he could develop the balls to go to the college and find some way to get Cas back, but everyday he told himself that he couldn't. Cas had a life now, he probably found someone that would give him all his needs, someone better than Dean. Someone who wouldn't repress what they felt because they were to scared to go to the next level, someone who was scared to lose them because yet at the end of the day he did because of his overthinking.

Cas still loved Dean's family, he always called on the appropriate holidays when Dean wasn't around. It was no wonder that he was still in contact with Sam, Dean's 16 year old little brother. He loved having a chat with Sam and making sure he stays on the right path, and it is his way of knowing how Dean truly is. No matter what, Cas promised himself he wouldn't rush down to Dean's house and end up getting dragged in the relationship they had lived through. The thing is the love he felt never really left. Even if he tried his best, he couldn't let go and that was what gets to Cas the most.

"Come on Cas it's been 2 years already, I'm kinda getting sick and tired of seeing Dean like this, he never smiles anymore and he's so grumpy all the time. He doesn't even like eating pie anymore." Sam was honestly tired of seeing his brother so unhappy because of one man who didn't want to get warped into a relationship with him and it was honestly sad except it was also understandable. There was never really abuse that went on, shoot they were more happier than ever really sad. Just Dean not saying it back in time is what screwed them both up.

Cas was sitting on his couch looking up at the ceiling, he was depressed. Although he would never admit. He had a little apartment in California while the Winchesters were in Arizona. Cas needed a minute to take in what Sam said and he would always reply whenever Sam told him to go to Arizona, "you know why I can't Sam. He hasn't even tried to call me throughout this 2 years, he never came up to try and reason with me, he doesn't care Sam."

Sam bit into his lip a little. Of course he knew his brother cared. There was a difference from when he was with Cas and now that he wasn't. He much preferred his big brother happy, it's what he needed after spending most of his childhood taking care of the him. "That's because he doesn't want to disturb you Cas, you know he doesn't know that we talk. He thinks you have a whole new life with all these amazing things even though he isn't wrong."
