Chapter 9// Pure Shenanigans
(I swear the next chapter will be way more interesting and make you feel some type of way.)
It was about 10 or 11 at night when I was starting to drift off to sleep. I fell asleep with my phone on my face and saliva running from my mouth. I jolted awake feeling my phone vibrate. I check the text and its Connor telling me he's coming to my room.
I get up and wipe the drool off my face. I sit up and wait for my body to regain itself. I stretch my arms and back before getting up to open the door for him. He's standing there with his black attire that includes shorts and adorable hair that's perfectly styled.
"You ready?" He whispers. I could smell the minty gum he'd previously using. Making me worry that my breath smelled like cake.
"I'd be nice to know where we were going first." I whisper back harshly. He shuts the door behind him and pushes me back into my bed.
"It's nothing to crazy so don't get all pushy. I just wanted to go for a swim. That's all." He says calmly. I quickly stand up and look at him like he's crazy.
"Are you crazy?! We can't go swimming at this time!" I tell him letting my voice raise a little.
"Don't be such a downer! C'mon you have to learn to be more of a risk taker." He thinks of any way possible to get me to go with him.
"Baby doll these are just baby steps. What's so bad about this?" He has a point and I'm already giving in. I just know if my mom found out she'd go ballistic because she wouldn't want me getting sick and all that other stuff.
"Alright but let me change into some shorts or some thing." I tell him walking to my drawer. I pull out a pair of spandex and I turn back around to find Connor still standing there.
"Fine fine I'll turn around." He groans and has his back towards me. I quickly change into my spandex and a new shirt.
"Okay you can look now." He turns around and smiles at me. I check my phone and see Lauren texted me. I ignore it and follow Connor out of my room.
"Grab some towels." I point to the bathroom. He does so and we try our best not to make any type of noise going through the back door.
We walk down the tiny hill that leads us to the lake. It's shining in the moonlight and you can hear the sound of crickets chirping. It oddly warm out compared to the air conditioned room inside. I'm headed to the dock but Connor pulls my hand into the direction of the woods. He drops his shirt on the dock and I leave the towels there as well.
"I thought you said we were going swimming?" I say starting to get worried. I pull back a bit but his strong hand had a firm grip on my tiny one.
"Oh we are." He says. We start walking even further until we hit the woods. I can't say I'm not panicking I've been tricked and going to be forced into something.
"Connor where are we going this isn't the lake." I tell him and his hand is still holding onto mine. I don't want to be out here anymore because we're getting more isolated and these woods are creepy.
"Where almost there hold on." He turns to look at me. I'm walking with a worried look on my face and he stops when he notices.
"Trust me on this baby doll." The pet name is reassuring and I smile at him. We continue to walk a bit more until we reach our destination.
"The cliff?! There is no way I'm jumping off of that. I'm walking back." I tell him once he led go of my hand. He runs to me and brings me back by my waist.
"Look Beth it'll be fun. Don't you want to feel the rush of flying?!" He's so good at persuading me and I'm just really to easy to convince.
"It's just I've always seen it from the dock and promised myself I would never look for it to jump off of because it's too scary." I pout at him really not wanting to jump but also not wanting to swim back.
