Chapter 2// Party

Why?

Is all I kept asking myself on the ride towards the event. I was scared at this point not knowing what type of things go one there. To my help the smell of this car made it easier for me to vomit. I was completely horrified once we pulled up to a street full of beat up cars.

I could hear the music from a block down and was ready to jump out of the car. It's just a party Bethany. Just a party. I have no idea why I'm having such a problem with going to one lame party. I guess I was just all talk because right now I would take back those words I said about wanting to go to parties like everyone else. I am completely fine sitting down and watching a marathon of friends.

"It's okay don't worry you'll have fun" Lauren squeezed my shoulder and I nodded. We walked a few houses down until the party came into view. It was a nice house that had music blaring out of it. I could see people in the front yard mingling. I followed Michael and Lauren up the steps. I cringed once we had entered.

There were way to many people in my liking. I could see the red cups all over the place and pitied whoever had to pick up the mess tomorrow. The aroma wasn't quiet pleasant but bearable. I saw people dancing so careless and others talking. It was not as bad as I imagined it but still bad I suppose. It did get me into a better mood. Sure there were plenty of people who I didn't recognize but I've seen these people once or twice before.

"Sorry" A girl had bumped into me and I nodded not speaking. She walked off and I turned around around seeing Lauren had left my side. I widened my eyes and looked around frantically. I began walking in a direction until I came up to the kitchen. I saw Lauren standing by Michael while he was talking to his friends. She seemed like a lost puppy holding onto his hand, out of the conversation.

I sighed and looked around watching a boy take a handful of pretzels into his mouth. I furrowed my eyebrows together and cringed at the amount of hands that probably have been in the bowl. I open up a cooler and see cans of beer. I open another and it had the same results. I walk over to the fridge and sigh of relief because I find a few water bottles. Popping off the cap a take a large gulp.

"Here take this" A tall boy hands me a red cup and I take it hesitantly. I don't drink and don't plan on to tonight. I could smell the strong scent coming off of the cup and looked back up at the random boy.

"Thanks" I tell him making it sound more like a question. He nods and walks back over to his group. I dump down the liquid in the sink and throw away the cup. I grab my water bottle and walk back over to the living room.

"Hey my friend over their has a question for you" A boy stops me in my tracks causing me to collide with his chest. I look up and it's that weird kid who always messing around with his food at lunch. Along with his friends.

"Okay?" I said taking a step back. He pulls out his phone and begins to read off from the phone trying hard not to laugh.

"Would you like your muffin buttered or unbuttered" He smiled widely and I looked at him with confusion.

"Leave the girl alone Van" I was being slightly tugged by my arm from another boy.

"Shouldn't I go and answer his question?" I asked the strange boy. He seemed familiar actually. I think I've seen him hang around the blue tables with the rest of the "cool" kids.

"Look I'm just trying to save you from being humiliated by them. Here you can hang with me" He guides me over to a couch where I instantly recognize a few people.

"Hey I didn't catch your name?"

"Bethany. But call me Beth" I said afraid of his friends seeing me with him.
