Sam POV
A couple hours pasted sense Alex arrived. I can't really remember if that was her name, I'm pretty sure it was. I looked up from my sketchbook seeing her with headphones, playing on her phone.
"Hey do you know when the first activity thing starts? it's been a couple hours." I asked
"Umm.." she thought while sitting up and taking, now with her earbuds out. "I'm not sure I think they are going to come around and go form to dorm and tell us. But I think it's also the paper they gave us when we signed in."
It feel silent as I quietly freaked out. "Umm... this is gonna sound dumb, but what paper?" I asked feeling dense and in the dark about this.
"Oh, did you not get one?"
"No..?" I replied in confusion
"That's ok you can look off of mine if you want." She said as she got up and when to her backpack to retrieve the paper.
Walking towards me with a sheet of paper she looks at me and says "It has some of the times for things to help us get started here."
"Oh that's good." I said as she sat down to show me the paper. I skimmed the sheet observing the times and days of things. Trying to see the future activities we are going to do.
Although my first impressions of Alex weren't that great, granted I was being an ass, she's been really nice to me. I don't think she really is the prissy, up tight, rich kid I thought she was. Maybe if she actually turns out to be nice, this camp wont be such a pain.
"Ooo! A pool day!" She abruptly said "I adore swimming, feeling the water run through your hair in the most majestic and magical way..." as she zoned out probably thinking about swimming, I realized the only swim suit my mom would get me was a bikini, and I hate bikinis. There waay to reviling for me, and my mom doesn't understand that I don't like reviling clothing. In her words, 'how can a girl like you hate a bikini that much, I'm sure it's just a phase you'll get over.'
Pulling me out of my thoughts Alex looks over at me and asks "So what are you excited about?" I'm not sure why, but it made me smirk, it was kinda nice to know she was interested in actually have a conversation with me.
"Well?"
"Oh umm, well I think the camp fire and s'mores are gonna be fun, I really like making marshmallows, there so gooey and when you get them just right it's like heaven in my mouth." I think that sounded weird, but what can I say, I really like marshmallows.
"Oh that's cool, I usually burn my marshmallows so I don't get to enjoy it much. Heh, it's kind of embarrassing actually, I can't even cook a marshmallow."
"Well that's ok, I could help you if you wanted me too." Shit, did my stupid mouth really just say that I thought I was going to see what kind of person she was, not put myself out there to be rejected over stupid marshm-
"Yeah! That would be fun!" She interjected. "I would love to finely be able to eat at least one s'mores without having a burnt taste."
"Heh, well I guess that's a deal then." We laughed together , she dose seem nice, I have to be cautious though in case she ditches me, I can't have a repeat of last summer.
Last summer I went to a swim camp(different camp from the first chapter) and me and this girl were locker buddy's and I trusted her on that very first day when she introduced herself, we hit it off. I thought she was nice she swam with me, talked to me at lunch and breaks, but then she ditched me to hang out with the 'cool' group, and I spent the rest of the week by myself and everyday at the lockers she would shove me, or make me trip, anything to try to embarrass me in front of her new so called 'friends'. In a very real and direct way she kind of taught me to be careful who you trust, I suppose it can be a good and bad thing.

After jumping nearly 20 feet in the air and startling Alex, I went to open the door. Behind it was a tall woman with a brown clip board, and long blond hair tied up into a messy bun, wearing a tie dye t-shirt and blue jeans.
"Hiya you guys! I'm your camp instructor, How are you doing this nice evening?"
"Umm, goo-" I get cut off by the voice behind me.
"We're good, how are you?" Alex cheerfully announced. "Well I'm good," the camp instructor said "I just came over here to check on you guys, making sure that you both have the schedule and map, and telling you where orientation is going to be." She said as if reading off of a page. "Do you guys need a map or a schedule?"
"I think we both need maps." I say, "yeah when I checked in the person at the desk didn't give me a map." Alex cut back in.
"Well that's why I'm here, here you go." She said while handing us papers and pointing at it. "Ok so this is the auditorium where most of the meetings will be and it's where the orientation is going to be held today at 6!" I glanced at my phone it was 4:35 plenty of time to look around the place so we don't get lost tomorrow.
"So that's about it from me but do you have any questions before I get going?" The lady asked.
"Are we aloud to look around a bit before the orientation thingy?" Alex asked practically reading my mind.
"Yes you are aloud to look around but it is required you go in pairs of two, don't go off the camp site, and take a map." She stated, it's clear she gets that question a lot, judging by the tone of her voice. "Well if that's it I'll be going, have a nice evening and see you girls at 6 in the auditorium."
"Bye" Alex and I said in unison.
"Well do you want to go look around?" Alex asked with the look of adventure in her eyes "We have to go in pairs, so do you want to be the marsh to my mallow ?"
"Uhh, sure I guess? your really cheesy aren't you," I giggled at her
"Yep that's me!" She laughed right back
"So where do you want to go first?"
