She flunk the pile of homework onto her desk, and sighed. She really needed to get through this. She internally screamed, and got to her homework.
She was doing well at her studies at the moment, despite the fact that one spot in her lunch table was missing. Fitz, Biana, Dex, Linh, and Tam all kept her company. Even Jensi, Marella, and surprisingly Stina Heks would sometimes come over to her table. They'd all crack jokes, do stupid things, and prank a couple of people.Once she'd finished her homework, she skipped over downstairs, to hang out with her adoptive mom and dad, Edaline and Grady.
But all she found there, was Mr. Forkle, Alden, Della, and her friends, silently waiting on her couch.
She slowly walked down the stairs, and sat next to Dex and Biana. Fitz sat next to Biana, and Tam followed, along with Linh and Wylie. Mr. Forkle stared at the wall, unalarmed of Sophie.
Mr. Forkle gasped as he saw Sophie's face. Last time she had saw him, he was Magnate Leto, principal of Foxfire, a great big fungus (no I'm joking). And all she saw was sadness in his eyes. She also had shared the same blankness in her eyes too. As she scanned the room, all her friends had shared the same thing.
She sighed. She and Mr. Forkle have been through a lot; Mr. Forkle losing his twin brother, who was also close to Sophie. Recently, her and Mr. Forkle's relationship had been going downhill for a while, because she really needed to know who her biological parents were. She knew one, Councillor Oralie, but not her dad. She wanted to know so bad, because she was UNMATCHABLE.
Mr Forkle broke off the awkward silence, showing everybody a slight smile. His eyes weren't exactly going along with his smile, though. He then took in a small breath, and then...
Dex held on to Sophie's hand, and so did Biana. Everybody else held hands too, connecting the line.
"We, as the Collective and part of the Black Swan, have no choice but to meet up with the Neverseen, on the Council's orders."
Everybody gasped.
Sophie's widened brown flecked eyes met Mr. Forkle's as he nodded slowly. "Yes, Miss Foster, we know. All of us were surprised to know about this news. But we have no say in this. We are going to meet with the Neverseen, tonight."
"Tonight?" She gasped for air, and chocked on her saliva, but no one was there to send her cool calming waves of energy. Someone, namely Keef-
"Sophie," he smiled weakly. "I'm here."
Sophie couldn't hold back her tears, not ever since Keefe had gone unconscious. She let all her bitter, angry tears out. She reached out and hugged Mr. Forkle. He was surprised, she could tell, as he flinched.
Mr. Forkle had always been someone to trust. He and his twin were the people who created her. But their telepathic communication was so strong, that Sophie trusted him so much.
Miss Foster, he sounded in her head. You are so incredibly strong. I've seen your grown from the very beginning. My brother would be proud. Kenric would be too. Everybody is.
She smiled. She wasn't going to let anyone down tonight. Sure, she was as nervous as she could be, but, she had to face them, They were going to face them. The Neverseen.
"We can do this, Lady Fos-Boss." Team Valiant (without Stina) whispered. Sophie giggled, for the first time in what seemed like forever.
"Ugh, really? What about me?" Linh, Tam, and Fitz all said in unison. Everybody laughed, including Alden and Della.
Alden pulled Sophie away from the group as they all left to get ready.
"You can do this, I know you will. You have shown incredible bravery." Alden smiled.
She flashed her widest grin. After that, everybody left.
Hi again! I hope you like this chapter. For some reason, I felt like Mr. Forkle and Sophie were going to have a stronger bond before *something happens* I'm not going to say, sorry. Oops.
