Silence. Darkness...Then everlasting noise. Skyra had studied Earth and humans so no matter how crazy this world seemed to her it did not come as a surprise. People shoved and pushed Skyra along the busy pathway to which the portal had sent her. Skyra took in her surroundings. This place was devastating. Tall buildings crept up towards the clouds, the sweet dirt of the Earth was covered by thick layers of cement and vehicles whizzed by polluting with their poisonous fumes.
Skyra ran. Though not afraid of humans, or vehicles, or buildings the lack of trees and oxygen was scary. She couldn't breathe. In Alaceia oxygen and nature were as plentiful as grains of sand, but here...not so much. There had to be trees around here somewhere. She didn't know where or how far. She just ran and ran and ran, until she heard a harsh, blaring noise. Skyra turned around and saw a car. The light from it assaulted her eyes. Then darkness consumed her.
~~~~
A continuous, monotone beeping noise harassed Skyra's ears. Where she lay she could hear voices that belonged to humans . But where did she lie? She dared not open her eyes but instead listened to the conversation.
"We can't find any relations."
"Are you sure there's no ID in the backpack she has?"
"None doctor."
"She is quite the mystery isn't she? That car accident should have killed her...Run some DNA tests. I'll check back later."
"Yes, Doctor. By the way, I saw the latest..."
The voices faded with the footsteps and the door clicked shut.
Skyra's eyes sprung open. She now knew where she was and she needed to get out. If the hospital ran the DNA test they would most likely think she was an alien and lock her up somewhere.
Skyra started to pull off the cords attached to her and wrenched off the one implanted in her left arm. Blood started to ooze out of her limb and onto the floor. She quickly wiped it up with some bandages and put it in her backpack. If they took her blood they could run the DNA test. Skyra slung her back pack over her shoulder and silently crept towards the door, while holding her bloody arm. She reached out to the handle, but before she could turn it, the door flung open and in the doorway was both the doctor and the nurse who looked just as stunned as Skyra.
Silence filled the air while the three beings stared at each other. Skyra straightened up and cleared her throat giving the impression of delivering an important speech.
Then a goofy smile spread across her face. "Bye!"
Skyra spun around and ran to the large glass window, covered her face with her arms, closed her eyes and leaped out of the eight storey hospital. Skyra opened her eyes and everything appeared as if in slow motion. Shards of glass from the broken window twirled and twinkled reflecting the day's sunlight. Wind pushed against her face and pulled at her hair and the grass that she was nearing was so green that it seemed to be welcoming her. This sight was horrible but also beautiful in it's own way.
A scream woke Skyra from her daydream and she saw the nurse and the doctor leaning out the window. Skyra had also caught the attention of the general public who were gaping and screeching as she plummeted towards the ground. This was not good. Skyra had the attention of many more people than she had intended and one of the public was filming her fall. Of course Skyra was going to save herself, but she didn't want to go viral. Humans probably had forgotten about the Nires and Skyra didn't want to remind them.
The ground was nearing and Skyra needed to decide. Die and protect the Nires from being known to humans or live and...basically live. And with a flick of her hand and a chant of a spell Skyra had made her decision. A branch of a nearby tree extended and scooped the falling Skyra out of the air and carried her back to the trunk, where she then moulded into the tree...and disappeared.
