 Brave? It is brave to end your life. Then, I must save face and put the rope around my neck again. I must preserve my integrity and fasten a ball and chain to my ankle before taking a swim. Maybe I could mix arsenic into my coffee and wait to meet my heavenly Father. If I am to be lionhearted, I must die. Instead, I took that noose off my neck and faced the other children. I chose to experience sixth grade, then seventh, and high school. I watched my first poem ever written to be published with other people just like me. I was able to find comfort in a man's arms. I allowed myself once more to be adopted into a family not of this world. I chose to live. Am I a coward for doing so?
