chapter 7

Jessica's pov

My eyes slowly open to the sound of the birds outside. I really didn't have anything to do today so I decided to just chill out on my phone.
     I reach over to my nightstand and grab it. I scroll through Instagram liking all the food pics since I like food until i hear my bedroom door open. Phoenix peeks her head into the room and looks at me. "Well I'm going to be heading out. Since I know you dont have money with you I left some on the kitchen counter if you want to get any food." She said and shutting the door.
       I sigh and roll over with my face on the pillow. Today is going to be so boring without phoenix I'm just going to lay in bed all day.
       I slowly get up and head towards the bathroom to go and take a shower. I take off my clothes and step inside the shower turning on the hot water. I relax as i feel it hit my body.  Taking showers is my most favorite part of the day since it's the only time where I can relax.

  I take the soap and soap up my body while also shampooing my hair. Once I was done with all of that I turn off the shower and wrap the towel around my body heading into my bedroom.
    I change into some clothes and head downstairs towards the kitchen to see that Phoenix had left 50 dollars. I pick it up and slip on my shoes before heading outside.

Walking towards the grocery store I hear something in the woods and I turn towards the sound and squint my eyes but I didn't see anything. Rolling my eyes I see I walk into the store and pick up all that I needed before paying and heading out. People were giving me weird looks because of my really pale skin so I put up my hoodie and kept my head down while in there.
        As I was walking back I see a hint of yellow go by and the sound of leaves crunching fill my ears. I started to run back to my house while I felt eyes watch me as I run farther and farther away. Once I reach the door i put my keys in and go inside quickly locking the door.
      I shut my curtains and try to slow down my breath. I pack away the groceries and head upstairs looking out of my window to see two figures looking up at my window and let me tell you that shit was creepy.

I shut my curtains and shove my knife underneath my pillow. I sit on my bed and pick up my phone texting phoenix

Jessica-Im not sure who it is but two men are watching the house from the woods. When are you coming back?

I sigh and wait until she texts back and not long after I hear my notification go off.

Phoenix-just make sure the doors are locked I'll be back in 5 hours so just stay put and dont move from your bedroom unless you really have to.

I put my head in between my legs and close my eyes. I think about my life before this when I was still young and before the accident happened.

*flashback*
Mommy was picking me up from school today and I'm so excited because we will be getting ice cream. She promised if I got good grades she would reward me.
      School was now ending and i was trying to see if I can see her but I was standing there for 5 minutes. Then I saw dad's car and I run over opening the door and hoping in. "Dad where's mom" I asked curious. He turned around with a sad look on his face and sighed. "You will find out" he said and drove off.
   We had showed up at the hospital and went inside. Dad said some things and then we went down a long hallway until we stopped at a door and went inside. There I saw mommy laying down on a bed with needles in her and machines. I run up and begin to ask her questions. "Mommy what's happening" I asked worried. I may only be 6 but i know when situations are serious. She looks at me and smiles sadly.
"Sweetie I got into a car crash and these machines are the only thing that is keeping me alive. Later tonight they are going to take me off and your not going to see me again so I want to give something to you" she said and took off her necklace. "Take this. This is your reward for being the best kid I could ever ask for and I'm so sorry that I wont be here to watch you grow up" she said a tear sliding down her face. She puts the necklace on me and hold my face in her hands. "I love you so much jessica and dont you ever forget that" she said and I nodded. "I love you to mommy and I wont" I said tears streaming down my face.
         After dad said his goodbyes we left and went home. I went into my room and cried myself to sleep.
*flashback over*

Once I turned 16 my dad had packed up and left saying something about how he couldn't take care of me anymore. I'm now 19 and I still haven't gotten a job but at this point I dont think I can anymore.
      I miss my mom so much and I just wish I could see her one last time. But I dont think that can happen. After all of that i didn't realize it had turned dark and then I hear glass break downstairs.
