It's definitely her. That's what they said and my mind was racking at the fact, trying to decode what it meant. What did it mean? Maybe that I'm the new girl. Yeah that was probably it.
I walked to my next class which was gym, I hate gym. It does not mix well with the uncoordinated and the clumsy. After I changed into their gym class uniform, a navy t-shirt with the school crest in the corner, maroon shorts also with the school crest and lined with navy, I walked out of the locker room trying to pull my hair into a ponytail at the same time . The shorts were surprisingly short so I didn't know how this was going to go.
Everyone was stretching and talking so I stood back near the bleachers rubbing my cold arms. I was looking around taking in my surroundings when I noticed him. The same grey haired boy was talking to his friend with his back turned. His friend had dark skin and the same dark eyes, he was charming.
I guess I had been staring too long because his friend was looking at me . He said something to grey haired boy and he turned around to look at me. His face was puzzled almost worried. I looked away. Thankfully class started and we were paired into teams of four to play tennis. I couldn't hit the ball to save my life. Every time I looked across the gym at them they were looking at me. Every. Single. Time. I felt creeped out and confused. When the bell rang I practically ran to the locker room.
Another class passed and then it was time for lunch. I wasn't hungry and had forgotten to pack a lunch so I walked in aimlessly. "Hey Noella !" I saw Bianca and walked over to her table, it was just me and her. "Hi." I said quietly. "How's your first day going so far?" she asked putting her chin in the palm of her hand. "Um good I think." "That's good! Anything exciting happen?" I thought for a minute before saying, "Um no but do you know those boys over there ?" I asked nodding towards a table across the room in the corner near the wall of windows. Bianca looked over and continued to smile as she said, "Yeah that's Theo and his crew, they're pretty secluded. That whole group of theirs kind of freaks me out. The one next to him is Thomas." She said pointing to the dark skinned boy I saw in my gym and english class. "and his sister Ray with the magenta hair and the nose ring." I looked over and nodded . "And the little one is Amy." I looked at Bianca confused, "how tall is she?" "I think about 5'11"" I felt even more confused. "But you said-" I started, "I meant skinny. Talk is that she has an eating disorder but I don't think that's true probably just another bad rumor." I nodded again. Bianca shoved a piece of sandwich in her mouth. As she chewed we both looked at them with cocked heads. All of a sudden, all at once they looked at us. I looked down. "Wow that's embarrassing." Bianca exclaimed.
I let Bianca talk the rest of the period and by the time it was over I felt more confused as ever. Still thinking about what they had said this morning. "It's definitely her." What did all of this mean maybe they only looked at me because i was always looking at them. They didn't seem like the most popular kids but their clique was definitely secluded like Bianca had said. The kind of seclusion that makes you want to be a part of it. But something was different about them almost dark. I wanted to know more but that wasn't possible and even if it was wouldn't it be weird ? A new girl that they don't even know asking an absurd amount of questions? Yeah that was not an option. I went to the rest of my classes that day and realized I had a lot of them with Ray and Amy. They held hands a lot I wondered if they were dating but I overheard Amy talking about a boy she was interested in. Something about his deep voice but I couldn't hear the rest of what she'd said. When Ray spoke I was surprised to hear an English accent. Which meant her brother had one too.
Other than that the classes were slow. The last class of the day, history, was the slowest of them all. When It ended I was walking to the door when someone bumped me. I fell into the teacher spilling his coffee onto himself. He sighed. "Oh god I am so sorry!" "It's ok the first day is a bit rough for all of us . Myself included." He smiled at me and I realized how young he looked. Something Bianca had said at lunch shot back at me. "There's this new teacher this year and he's like 23!" This must be him. I smiled back. "Do you want me to go get paper towels?" I asked. "Yeah that'd be nice, the janitors closet is just around the corner." "Ok." I said turning on my heel.
I walked to the janitors closet. My new teacher was attractive which was another strange thing from today. Weren't teachers supposed to be in their 40s and have a round stomach not rock hard abs? I saw them through the coffee stained shirt. I felt bad for looking but I wanted to make sure he was ok I mean it was hot coffee.
I jogged to around the corner and read the word janitor on the door. When I opened it I stopped dead in my tracks.
Standing in a circle in the dark were Theo and his crew. To my right was Thomas who was holding a green orb of light between his two hands. They were looking at me as if expecting me to come. I stood there in shock. "Hello Noella." He said calmly._________________________________
