On the car ride i thought constantly of death. Not of my own but my mothers. Whether she would survive without me there or cripple at the thought of me being gone. I was on my way to live with my aunt near the city for I had lived 2 hours away from it for fifteen years. The idea was for me to get a second chance at a new school where no one knew me .
I wasn't even sure I was smart enough for this new school. I could barely keep up at home but maybe that was just because my teachers hated me. Whatever it was was in the past. It was my chance to start new .
I looked at the side of my moms dark head. How could I leave such a great person ? She'd done so much for me I could never repay her . I don't know what she'd do now that my dad has left. That bitch was nothing but a coward who said he needed time to think for himself away from his family. Like I said nothing but a coward. I think the main reason my mom decided to have me move schools was because she thought I was taking the divorce bad. But I wasn't, I'm fine. It's her I'm worried about.
It was moments like these that I wished I looked more like her . My blonde hair only reminded me of John and i didn't like to think about him at all, if I can stop it.
We rounded the corner of the street and my aunts house came into view . The day that followed was somewhat normal. If normal was awkwardly having small talk with my aunt and going up to my new room to sleep for it was already 8:30 when we'd arrived. The walls were a light purple with black curtains and a black and white comforter laying on the bed.
I lay awake late at night thinking of the day to come tomorrow. The new school wasn't in the city but in Hudson New York. Hudson was a city itself but not thee city. I tossed and turned all throughout the night wondering if i was ever going to get to sleep.
When I woke the next morning it was raining. I pulled on my uniform and looked in the mirror. It was navy blue with maroon lines, how it matched I didn't know. I was fiddling with my hair when I froze. A strand in the blonde was now black. "How the fuck.." I looked at it for many minutes. How was this possible ? I tried to ignore it as I walked to the bus stop in the mist and fog only hoping it'd actually rain. I hated in between weather.
I sat on the bus and looked out the window. My anxiety was through the roof. How was I going to get through today ? I didn't know anyone, where my classes were, or any of the teachers. Today was going to be a shit show for sure. When I had finally made it to the school I stared up at it. The thing looked like a castle. It was old for sure but to me it was beautiful. I walked in and right across from the front door was the office. When in the office I waited behind a curly red headed girl. When she turned around she had freckles and bright blue eyes. She gave me a small smile and left the office.
I took a step forward to talk to the lady at the front desk. "I'm-" I started when she cut me off "Noella Caster it's nice to meet you I'm Mrs. Moore. Here's your schedule. Have a great day." She gave me a half smile . I could tell her day so far was not great. I looked down at the map as I left trying to decide which way biology was. When I decided to go left down a long hallway I was relieved to see the red headed girl coming near me.
"Hi I'm Bianca, you're new right ?" She asked pointing in my direction. "Yeah I'm Noella." I said giving a small smile. "Nice, what class do you have first ?" I looked down at my schedule just to make sure I was right. "Biology." She pouted a bit, "I don't have biology first but hopefully I'll see you again today, you should sit with me at lunch." Damn. Even though I was planning to eat by myself I didn't know how to say no. "Sure that sounds great, thanks." I said a little too eager, even I didn't believe it. "Well see you then!" She smiled and walked in the opposite direction.
I looked to my left to see that we had stopped right outside of the biology class room. How convenient. Biology was harmless enough and once it was over I was on my way to English.
Bianca was in my English class so I sat by her. As the bell rang a group of boys walked through the door and picked a table near the window across from ours. I was happy the desks were rounded - no drama. I looked over at the group of boys when I stopped at the tallest. He was gorgeous. He had pale skin, dark grey hair, and piercing blue eyes that made Bianca's look dull. I quickly looked away but it was hard for me to take my eyes off of him for long. When I looked up he was staring at me . Caught of guard I looked down. I could hear quick whispers coming from their table. I looked up again only to find all of the boys looking my way. They all looked so puzzled and amazed. What was this all about? It died down once class had started thankfully.
When class ended the group of boys waited for me to leave first when I heard one of them whisper, "it's definitely her."———————————————————————————
