Revy's POV
Kat and I took our seats in our first class, Power Controlling 101. I looked over and saw that Ridge guy again, I guess we have the same schedule. Another student walked through the door and sat next to him, they started conversing.
I attempted to tune into the teacher, but I started paying attention to everything else. The tapping keys of the instructors computer, the quiet chatter of the students around me, even the barely audible hum of the A/C. You see, the thing about having such an advanced brain is focus. It's almost a form of ADD, but a bit different.
Kat has it even worse due to her super hearing, vision, and all. Some powers come with perks and problems, something I've learned through middle school. Jeez, middle school. I completely hated it, the teachers were keeping the children from discovering the full extent of their powers. But, enough of that, too many bad memories.
I really don't have to focus though, I've memorized most of this stuff a long time ago. Why am I here then? Even though I memorized the needed items I still need to practice these powers, and possibly go beyond them. That's my goal.
I snapped out of my trance when the boom of our instructors voice rang through my ears, "Hey, Cherry Top, name and power? Introduce yourself."
Kat's POV
I need this class, I really do. Power Controlling 101. I sat at my desk next to Revy, hearing everything. I couldn't focus on one thing at all. I pushed my white hair out of my face thinking I was about to go crazy from all of the noise. I couldn't keep my attention on one thing, I kept jumping my focus from one sound to the another. The hum of the vents, the ridiculous conversations around me, even the squeak of peoples sneakers in the gym. I thought I was about to cry from the massive headache I was getting when I finally heard the right voice.
"Hey, Cherry Top, name and power? Introduce yourself," Our teacher called to Revy. I tried my best to tune out all the other noises in the school. Revy stood up uncomfortably, "My name is Revy Carter. My power is mind bending ." The instructor looked at her with a confused gaze, "Could you explain that more uh...Revy?" She sighed and continued, "Yeah, I can read minds, I have a pretty large brain capacity. My power allows me to get into peoples heads," she said, tapping her head, "and to mess with the stuff in there. Like, surroundings and all." After Revy finished, she got a few stares from the class.
"Okay, next, Snow White." I looked awkwardly at the class and stood, "My name's Katrina Carter. I, uh... My power is to- it heightens my senses. I'm really sensitive to noises and smells, tastes...and my list goes on for most of the senses. I can see far..." I know the way I said that I must sound a bit wimpy. The thing is, I'm really bad at controlling my powers. Say I was standing at a train station. When a train stops, the breaks squeal, loudly, even for the average person. So when I come along, it's pure torture.
I sit down and hear a person whisper from a few seats back, "Heh, brainy sisters, both pretty hot too. Wanna help me hit on the red haired chick? You can take the other one." I sigh under my breath.
Revy's POV
I'm interrupted from my meaningless daydream by a voice in my head, "Revy, the two guys back there are talking about us, calling us hot and stuff." I soon recognize the voice as Kat. You see, we're able to do this telepathy due to our enhanced brains. But only with each other can we have a two-way conversation. I scoff, "Hold, on. Watch them closely."
I glance over at the two boys for only a moment, then I focus my attention as well as I can on the broader of the two. I first read his thoughts, "Hm, red hair chick's totally gonna let me b-" Okay, okay that's enough. Why are all these highschool guys so preverted? Next, I imagine myself getting up out of my seat and teasing him, only to turn into a monster like creature and growling, snapping, and clawing at him.
If you looked over at him during all this, he would be completely still yet his eyes would be dialated and moving rapidly, sweat breaking out all over.
I stopped and laughed as he looked over at me. Just because, I gave him a little wave and a wink. He quickly averted his gaze. It's a bit dissapointing I can only mess with one person at a time. Hah, but men are so easy to manipulate I bet I could learn how in a flash.
Drew's POV
After he called on Revy and Kat I was up next. "Hey, Day Dreamer, you're up next," the teacher called to me. What's with this guy and his nicknames? As I stand up I see Revy and Kat looking at me, but I ignore it. "My name is Drew and my power is super speed and enhanced agility," I told him. "So, what's your top speed?" The teacher asks.
"My top speed so far is 458 mph, but I am still improving," I responded. "Very nice, so how's your agility?" As he says this, someone throws a pencil at me from behind and I turn around and catch it. "Anyway, as I was saying, with my enhanced agility I am able to dodge anything, anyone throws at me, but with my super speed I am able to dodge bullets, missiles, ect."
After he finished talking to me he askes every one else what their powers were. "Okay, time to begin Power Controlling 101."
Revy's POV
After a few classes we had a period all to ourselves, during this time I decided to introduce myself and Kat to Drew. I walk across the room and sat in the chair facing him, "Yo, remember me? Chick you ran in to? Hey again." He looked up from his phone and responded, "Hey, Revy right?" I nodded, "And this is my sister Kat."
Kat waved and smiled distantly. I held out my hand for him to shake. Drew took it hesitantly, "Aye, c'mon I'm not gonna do anything to you." We shook hands and continued conversing. As we talked I felt like I've known him for some time, or seen him somewhere.
Wait, no way. I...think I do know him. Is he...? "Um, Drew sorry but...were you that guy who got into that accident a few years ago?" Once I said this I saw his eyes dart to the left, a sign of a lie, "No, sorry."
Kat's POV
I looked at Drew blankly, he was nothing special. Also, he lied, he's going to make it hard for me to trust him. "Oh, that's okay... Sorry," Revy said, I could tell she knew he was telling a lie. Drew's eyes darted to the left, a sign anyone could see. But with my enhanced abilities, I'm a human lie detector. His body got a bit more tense when he said that, and his breathing lost it's tempo.
How do I aproach this though, I don't understand a need to lie, it's just a simple yes or no question. I wasn't as sensitive to people's feelings as Revy, one of my weak points, so I did what I thought was right in this situation.
"Liar..." I said, it came out in more of a whisper, a disadvantage of my hightened hearing, I sound much louder in my head than I really am. "You say something?" Drew asked. I looked at him with a cold, blank look, "Liar."
