An eternal flame
Shared by two star-crossed souls
Bonding them together
In a fiery embrace
Pleasant memories feed the blaze
Propelling them on their infinite journey
Across the night sky
But
Try as they might
Their connection
May not always burn bright
The flames
Can be tamed
By deceit
Doubt
And a quarrelsome blight
Tears turn to rain-
Drops engorged with pain
Weighing down our pair
Dampening their light
Causing them to plummet
And land in a field of despair
Do not fret
Or worry about their tumble
Hearts beating in unison
This soul-bonded pair
Will once again soar through the celestial air
As a phoenix
Risen from the ashes of burnt and broken promises
Leaving a trail of relationship embers in their wake
Filling the void in their hearts
By vowing to never repeat their latest mistake
