"Grandma! Grandma! What's this?" A ten to eleven-year-old boy pulls a small stack of dusty smelly, yellow-paged, leather-bound books out a dingy old chest.
"Well, well. What have we here?" The old lady smiles, "You better give that to me if you want a chance at knowing what that is." He hands his grandmother the old book.
As she opens it, a look of surprise, sorrow, and graceful understanding flood the old woman's face. "Why I haven't seen these in years!" she croaks as tears form in sad, wise old eyes.
"Are you okay, Grandma?"
"Yes, now if we could get out of this accused attic, Noah, I will tell you what these books are." The boy promptly begins helping his grandmother down the stairs.
"Now go run to the kitchen, dear. Bring me a cup of tea." she groans sitting down on a sofa. The little old lady picks up one of the old yellowed books and opens it. A remembering smile spreads her weathered face. The first page reads:
Journal and Memories of Lady Rosalyn J Grey of the Royale House of Comentia
I want to soar where the eagles fly. I want to run with the winds of the sky. I want to roam where the mountain lion prowls. I want to swim with the waterfowl.
I would never trade the pain and tears for anything, for through them I broke free.
