Chapter 1

3 days before the death of Red Cosmo

Red Cosmo watched the sky as the rain starts to pour. She closed her eyes slowly at dinig na dinig n'ya ang ingay ng kapaligiran ng Makati. Sa tabi n'ya ay may dalawang bakla na maingay na nag-uusap, sa kabila naman ay ang pag-aaway ng couple at sa kabilang tawid naman ay ang ingay ng umiiyak na bata at idagdag mo pa ang busina ng mga magagarang kotse ng Makati. It's loud and for some it's uncomfortable, but not for her.

She's not an extrovert who really likes to party, nor an introvert who prefers to stay at home and read The Retribution of Mara Dyer. Somehow she find this loudness comfortable. Maingay din naman sa bahay nila pero nakakasawa na, ang palagi n'ya nalang kasing naririnig ay ang sermon ng tatay n'ya tungkol sa mababa n'yang marka, sino bang hindi magsasawa do'n?

Binuksan n'ya ang mata n'ya at napatingin sa papel na hawak-hawak. Ayaw n'ya pang umuwi lalo na kung mag-uuwi s'ya ng mababang marka, panigurado sermon lang ang aabutin n'ya sa tatay n'ya. Napatingin naman s'ya sa orasan n'ya na nakalagay sa kaliwang kamay n'ya at doon n'ya nakita na maga-alas dose na pala, baka nag-aalala na ang mga magulang n'ya, kailangan na n'yang umuwi. Kahit naman mataas ang expectations sa kan'ya ng mga magulang n'ya ay ayaw pa rin ng mga ito na umuuwi s'ya ng ganito ka-late.

She walked on the pedestrian not leaving her look on her wrist watch and all of a sudden there was a deafening silence. Her world spun harshly and after that she was forced to look up in the sky and watch the rain to fall while she's on the top of someone else's car bleeding to death.

People near the incident starts to surround her. Everyone is on their phone, trying to reach the ambulance while some are taking videos and pictures and in just a minute she's already on viral. Mas nauna pa s'yang nag-viral kesa sa pagdating ng ambulansya.

Most of the time anyone who encounter this kind of incident asks why. Why now? Why her? Why does this kind of incident happened to her? but not for her case. Malapit na s'yang sumakabilang buhay pero ngayon n'ya lang na-realize ang ganda ng gabi lalo na kapag umuulan. She wanted to paint the sky for the last time and name it "The Pain in the Sky" but unfortunately, she can't lalo na kung ganito ang sitwasyon n'ya.

Her eyes starts to feel droppy and her head also feels light, then after a minute she finally rest her eyes but she can still feel her surroundings. May dalawang tao na nagmamadali sa paglapit sa kan'ya at mabilis pero maingat na inilagay s'ya sa isang higaan. Binuksan ng isang babae ang kanang mata ni Red at tinutukan ng flashlight and she got the response that she wanted so she asked Red.

"Do you remember who you are?" Hindi masyadong maintindihan ni Red ang sinasabi ng babae but she still managed to nod as an answer.

"What's your name?"

"R-Red Cosmo." She tried to answer despite the pain she's feeling. And without realizing because the woman keeps on talking to her and checking up on her, they finally arrived at the E.R of the hospital safely. Two guys and one female were pushing her bed and they were talking as if she's not in between them.

"Natawagan n'yo na ba guardians nito? Kailangan s'yang operahan eh."

"Hindi ma-reach eh."

"Pero tinry naming tawagin 'yung landline nila, padating na raw Nanang n'ya."

"Nanang? Is she blood related?"

"No, looks like she's a maid there."

"That won't do. Kailangan parents n'ya ang makakausap natin."

She laughed internally on what she heard, syempre kahit mamamatay na s'ya hindi pa rin s'ya paglalaanan ng oras ng magulang n'ya, they are too busy making money and making more money.

While she's on a dire condition there is someone out there waiting for her return. The guy is wearing a black hoodie which Red likes while his two cold hands are inside the pockets, trying to warm it. The weather is cold and it's already raining outside which he recognized it just now. But he wonders, what happened to Red and she's taking too much time? Little did he know, Red is already in between of heaven and earth.
