Authors PoV
Throughout the hallways of Temps grove's public high school, cheering and shouting could be heard. The hallways themselves were like a ghost town, not a single Soul was seen. But outside, a large and energetic crowd gathered around two enraged youths. A furious black haired male who's hair curled over fantastic emerald eyes and a snarky blonde egotistical male who's got his fist raised in front of his face.
Everyone was cheering as the two circled each other "come on Foster. Just apologise!" The blonde Male shouts, the black haired male clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth "apologise? Apologise for you calling me a freak of nature?" He retaliates, easily towering over everyone at 6'8ft, his emerald eyes piercing into the smaller Male "That's how it goes around here, Big-foot." He returns.
Grayson Foster, son of Penelope and Derek foster. A teenage student or local Temps grove high school. Known for his height of 6'8ft and shiny emerald eyes.
Grayson's pov
Pushing the door of my humble abode open, my mother, the wonderful and adorable Penelope foster looking up and immediately standing "Grayson, what on earth! Did you get into another fight again!" She shouts as she moves to treat the cuts and bruises on my face, my father stands and sighs depressingly, my siblings obviously eavesdropping from the living room due to the snickers and laughs I seem to be able to hear despite my parents who cannot "You mustn't keep getting into fights, Grayson. You need to set an example." He says, scoffing I lean back when my mum tries to clean my wound "An example!? Of what. A giant freak? Everyone is scared or hates me. I have no friends." I growl, standing suddenly, the chair falls due to the backs of my knees hitting it whilst I stood "Your just different. Different is good." My mum tries to calm me "I'm not different! I'm a mutant! I am much faster and stronger than anyone. I can hear and smell things that no one else can. I can see things from incredibly far away! I'm not normal!" I shout, my parents exchanging looks as they avoid my gaze, I grab my jacket quickly before storming out.
Laying on the ground on a cliff overlooking Temps Grove, my arms sprawled out beside me, my hands raking through the long grass occasionally without my actual awareness of the habit, staring at the sky as the sun begins to fall behind the horizon, the stars beginning to appear one by one in a blanket of darkness. I let out a long awaited sigh, a pressure on my chest being released as I do so, my breath creates a small cloud of air above me.
I was right to freak out earlier, no one can tell me otherwise. I am not like everyone else... I'm not normal... I've dealt with it all my life I just never realised it was this bad till high school. I grew like the other kids when I was younger but when they stopped I just kept growing and growing and eventually I became 6,8'ft. People started avoiding me after that. Either it was because I Intimidated or scared them or because they didn't want to be seen hanging about with a giant freak. Literally.
Pushing myself so I'm sat up, my hands holding me up, pressed into the grass gently, my eyes trace the stars casually before they fall on the horizon line, the small town below caused so much distress.
Unlocking my house door, I place my keys in the bowel beside the cubbies, my other hand rubbing my eyes due to the time I had spent star-gazing. I hadn't noticed my parents sat in the kitchen at the dining room table till they stood and cleared their throats. They both held a look of worry and cautiously moved towards me "It's best of you had a seat, Grayson..." my mum murmured.
Looking to the two who haven't spoken a word since I sat down, my hands were crossed in my lap gently, my brows furrowed "So one of you has to say something or I'm leaving." I say finally, my dad jolting slightly before he leans back and let's out a frustrated sigh "Grayson... you, are adopted." My mum says, staring at them both blankly I shrug "And? A lot of kids are adopted, what's so special about my case?" I retaliate, my father standing and clearing his throat "You... aren't exactly like the other kids..." he says, my my standing and opening the door to the backyard.
Following them towards the shed with the 'SPARE STUFF' sign hanging on the door "What? Where are we going." I grumble, flinching when my dad opens the shed and gestures for me to enter. Doing so I squint when he turns the light on and a radical metal beaten pod is laying on the ground, big enough to hold a baby in "We found you when you were just a babe. We couldn't just leave you and if we told the authorities they would've taken you.. so we covered it up..." my mum explains, running my thumb across the name engraved in the side of it I scowl 'Grayson' "I am an alien." I say almost as if I had proven it, despite their knowledge of it "Why didn't you tell me..." I mumble, looking inside of the pod I squint "We wanted you to live a normal life..." my dad defends.
Pressing my hand against the top of the pod, the hatch opens at the top, staring at it I look to my parents who look confused "I've never seen it do that..." my dad murmurs, climbing up I peer inside the pod, a small metal medallion with the fire element printed on top lying in the pods seat, reaching down I grab it,
Dropping it immediately when it glows a brilliant orange, the pod sprinting to life before shutting off, however the medallion continues to glow - picking it up I stare in awe at the object "We best go inside..." my father murmurs, nodding I clutch the object in my hand tightly before stepping back and following them in silently.
