The witching hour was almost upon her, and the half-witch, Sabrina Spellman, was quick to gather her things. From running left to right, to levitating to reach high places, Sabrina gathered spell books, charms, enchanted objects, anything she could find around Spellman Mortuary. She needs to pack everything for her little trip.
Ironically, her trip wasn't so little. Normal teenagers take a little trip to the beach. Some take a little trip to a band concert. Most importantly, normal teenagers don't go on a little trip if it involves risking their lives!
Long story short, she wasn't running away to Hawaii for a vacation, not to Hollywood for fun, not even to Riverdale for a weekend getaway! To put it straight, Sabrina Spellman and her friends were going to Hell! That was no metaphor; literally, they're on the highway to Hell! Sabrina and her Fright Club were going to the underworld to save her boyfriend!
Last night at Cerberus Books, Sabrina and her friends had agreed to band together and save Nicholas Scratch from the hands of the Devil and bring him home. She couldn't wipe the excited smile off her face for the remainder of the night. Just this morning, Sabrina (with Salem by her side), Roz, and Theo had gone to Harvey's after his father left to work. For hours, the Fright Club had to discuss their plan to save Nick.
The young witch had explained her plan to the rest of the Fright Club members: she alone, with her trusty familiar by her side, is going to use the underground gates to Hell. Upon entering, she is going to travel through endless plain to reach Nick. Once she finds him, she is going to perform a spell that will expel Satan from Nick's body. In the meantime, her friends will be waiting for her on the other side of the gate with an enchanted string Sabrina will attach to her wrist so that she'll never lose her way home. As they wait, the three mortals will need to be ready to pull her and Nick (she insists confidently that she'll not fail finding him) through in case the situation takes a turn for the worst. Sabrina wants her friends to draw the same symbols they used before to block the gate in the event that something tries to chase the witch and her boyfriend through. Finally, she'll seal the gate for good so no evil may ever escape!
She held a tone of confidence throughout her rescue plan. However, her friends did not miss the way her tone darkened at the mention of her father, the Devil. For their friend's sake, the three members of the Fright Club did not ask.
Her plan was simple enough, but it did raise a few complaints and questions. For one, Harvey and Theo had insisted that they will not allow Sabrina to go alone and without backup to protect her (Salem hissed at them for not believing he would be able to protect Sabrina). Despite the fact that she was touched, Sabrina did not want anyone else she cared for to follow her into Hell. The fact that they were mortal, made them all the more vulnerable to otherworldly forces; to enter a dominion were supernatural beings lurk at every corner, she won't have them at the mercy of malicious creatures. Still, they seemed intent on going down there with her. Matters only became worse when Roz asked, "How will you find him? Do you know for sure that the gate will drop you off somewhere near his current location? Can you navigate Through Hell? What if all those monsters and demons come after you, or worse, over power you?"
Even Salem was purring with uncertainty. Catching on to Roz's worry, Harvey speculated his own thoughts on the matter. "Sabrina, what do you think will happen if you do expel Lucifer from Nick's body? Won't Lilith be angry at us for setting the Devil free? And what's to stop him from coming after us and get revenge for what we did to him?"
As much Sabrina didn't want to admit it, Roz and Harvey had presented a new light on the matter that had her rethinking her plan and all the consequences they would be facing if they went along with this mission. Roz was right about the gate, it doesn't work the same with witches as it does for demons and monsters, for the infernal creatures could control the gate to take them wherever they desired. For witches, the gate wouldn't respond so obediently (even with the amount of power she has). So she knew that they would have no such luck. The mention of Lilith also began to concern her, for she was queen now. If she were to discover that the Dark Lord was free, and that Nicholas was gone, she wouldn't be oblivious as to how that outcome came to be. The Queen of Hell was the last being Sabrina wanted as an enemy.
