Haruni was happy that she had opened up the umbrella on her own and she had made that 'flap' sound while opening it. She had denied the request of a car by the maid and was walking down the road with an umbrella over her head. Haruni was a short plumpy girl with a pair of dark grey eyes and short light brown hair that was made into ponytails on either side of her head. She had a round face with a blunt nose and when she laughed she made the whole world count her teeth.
The raindrops that were dripping from the back of the umbrella slowly damped the back of Haruni's school uniform, but she was happy. At least for this one day she looked and was being a normal school girl.
She smiled when she thought of the day when her mother would be willing to come to the homeroom meeting, while she would have done her best in the exams.
I will be a good girl mama, I will make you proud!
She giggled at the thought of it and her school came into her vision. A grand stature with an iconic symbol of royalty stamped upon its head. The gates were high and walls loomed higher than that of a prison. The school of prestige stood right in front of Haruni before she entered the gates with her unevenly wet grey uniform.
Haruni had never experienced any form of love or affection from her mother, she would get everything from her maid instead. Her maid took care of Haruni's bathing, her bread, A Lori to make her sleep, Her needs for the school and even if Haruni had to ask anything in particular to her mother, the maid would act as a transmitter between the messages of the mother and the daughter. But most of the times there was nothing for Haruni to ask her mother because she would be provided with everything she was needed beforehand, in fact, Haruni had everything in excess. The dolls she played with and the musical instruments that she just had a whim to touch. Haruni never dressed up quiet often, but one whole room was filled up with the new dresses that were bought for Haruni, but yet she was denied of some things when she requested them. They were fairly simple and common, a chance to talk to her mother at least once in a day, and a request for her mother to play with her dolls. Those requests were never accepted till the day.
Guess mama has a lot of work to do!
She thought slowly opening her book and jotting down her goal for the month. Maya who was Haruni's best friend came and sat beside her.
"What are you writing, Haru?"
Haruni suddenly closed the book and blushed
"It's a secret!"
"Ohh, the bad ones that elders try to keep to themselves?"
She snuggled her elbow into Haruni's arms with a grin
"Naahhh... It's not a bad secret... And moreover..." Haruni giggled as it felt like tickling to her "It's more like a surprise to you all!"
"What is it?" Maya raised her eyebrows
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I say it and I will let you meet her in person." Said Haruni to the confused Maya before throwing her book down her bag. She had written a sentence on the goal list."
'To make mama proud in front of the entire classroom.'
And I promise you, mama! I will be a good girl! She thought before the teacher entered the classroom. But the rain was persistent.
