Chapter 1- Old habits die hard.

Living a life where one is simply scared and shy is terrifying. You shut people out and you decide to keep things to yourself. You need others help, you need them to know you are there too, you are a part of this world too, but no that's not what happens, you are just silent, plain silent. No wonder they don't notice you.

I look at the clock stating its 10:00pm and decide to go to bed. I look around my humongous bedroom and all I can see are the unpacked boxes. It's a whole new city, a whole new area and well, I'm just not yet settled in. Tomorrow is a brand new day and I am not excited for it. A new area means new school, new people which I don't look forward to. Anyways it wouldn't make any difference cause I never did have anyone as a friend in Portland either. Shaking these thoughts off my mind I finally manage to doze off.

"Jade! You're gonna be late!" There, my alarm clock either known as my mum goes off. "Jade!" She goes off again. " I'm up! I'm up!" I reply and roll out of bed.Mornings are pain in the ass. I do what I have to do, take a shower get dressed up, eat and look my at my self telling it's gonna be fine and finally head out the door wishing my mum and dad goodbye. In the Black Beauty, Cole, who is completely opposite of me and who can not be even called my brother according to the personalities waits with an impatient look on his face. I sigh, wondering how can he be so excited about this and hop into the car hoping I won't get noticed today, please for god's sake.
"Would you mind getting up quick? It's the first day and we are gonna be late." He says but I just stare out the window, lost in my own world.
"Hey.." My brother turning suddenly soft "I know you are scared, I know you are afraid of what's coming but you will need to learn to get out of your shell,you will have to get rid of your shyness one day or the other. Jade, look at me." Cole says. Hesitatingly I turn around facing my brother.
"What?" I spit.
"Don't pretend as if.."
"Can we not talk about this? Please? It's just who I am and old habits die hard." I cut him off.
"As you wish, princess, but I'm there if you need to talk, okay?" Cole replies. Call my brother too caring or sweet or overprotective, he can be a real ass sometimes.
"Kay.." I drift off again.

The rest of the ride was quiet, an uncomfortable quite. Took a right turn from the road and hello there new school. Damn! The school is pretty huge to be honest and hopefully I am going to be small part of it, so probably no ones gonna be staring, if I decide not to stick with my brother who is all such a social butterfly and you always find a bunch of girls drooling around him. Cole,to be honest is really a good looking guy, who looks like mum with a tan skin tone, pair of blue eyes and messy light brown hair and with a built body, girls would obviously drool over him. But there is me, tan skin tone, dark brown hair and light brown eyes with deep dimples on my cheeks which is the only thing Cole and I have in common apart from the tan color.I sometimes wish I was confident like him.'If you try, for god's sake' not now, my head is messing with me now at this point. But I have to admit my head's a fucking truth machine.

"Jade! You coming out or not?" Cole snaps me out of my thoughts.
"God! We arrived at time okay? Don't need to hurry!"I reply shutting the door behind.
Till now seems like no one has noticed us and I cross my fingers and walk ahead leaving my brother behind with my head down. I don't know where I got this nature from but sometimes I just think it's a curse a bloody spell someone has put on me. It's that bad. I'm telling you.
As I thought Cole comes running behind, "Great.." I mutter.
"Whoa, whoa slow down, do you even know what is your first period? You know we have to head to the principals and you're going the wrong way."
"I know, but can we just hurry?" I start to get nervous as we were getting stares, like a lot of them.
"Fine."

The door read the principals office. Finally. How huge is this school mate? The principal..Mr. Wilson looked up from his papers and greeted us with warm smile. "You two must be the Parkers. Am I right?"
"Yes, Good Morning Mr.Wilson, I'm Cole and this is my sister Jade." I give Mr.Wilson a smile.
"Well you two sit down and let me explain the rules and regulation then we'll talk about the class schedules."
He gave a long speech on the topic which was some what common as other schools and finally we got our schedule. First period: English, second: geometry, third: biology and so goes the list. But my schedule seemed fine and I was pretty happy with it. Thanking Mr.Wilson we both head out the door checking if we had class together or not. English was the only period we had together. The bell went off and there was shuffling all around the hall. Knowing I didn't like attention Cole decided to shut his mouth. He's soft in this matter, and I really appreciate him for that.
"Hey! Check it out it's the new kids." One shouted.
And there were a lot of whispers and of course the girls staring at my brother with their pathetic thoughts. There were guys too staring and I was nervous. 'You're such pussy.' Oh shut up! My heads working again.
Reaching the class, we were the last ones to arrive. Shoot.
"Oh hey! You two must be Jade and Cole. Welcome. Would you two introduce yourselves to the class." Uh oh..
"Class listen up! They are new to the school and please be nice." I think her name is Ms.Adams.
" I'm Cole, Cole Parker."
*Holy Crap.
"Umm..I'm.."
"She's Jade by the way." Cole to the rescue. I sigh and take my place next to Cole.
A lot of whispering went around in the class and of course the giggling of the girls.

So went the day, quick and short. It was indeed that it was gonna take time for me to settle down but Cole on the other hand already made a bunch of friends. As the final bell rang, everyone was in a hurry to head home and I was one of them and was trying to dodge people on the way until and unless...

BAM.

I just hit someone and the books were all over the place.
