The Sycamore Girl {jeongmi}

A year had passed and no sign of Mina.
She went to the Sycamore tree like usual. She was shocked when she saw her. She was there standing under the tree and leaning her back at it just like the first time she saw her.

"MINA!"

She ran to her and hugged her tightly. But Mina hugged back. When Jeongyeon broke the hug she looked at Mina and admired her.

She have a black hair now and more skinny. She looks....different.

"I missed you so much." Jeongyeon said and held Mina's hands.

"I missed you too." Mina daid showing a sad smile.

"You changed. Did you cut your hair or something?" Jeongyeon asked changing the topic.

Mina giggled. "Or something." They start laughing and when their laughter was dead Jeongyeon asked.

"How have you been? I thought you wouldn't come back." Mina smiled. "I'm fine. It was a nice trip. My family and friends are good and I now have a new girlfriend. Her name is Chaeyoung. She from Korea, so that's why I came."

WHAT! She has a WHAT? Jeongyeon thought. "Oh. I'm h-happy for y-you." She stuttered. And Mina smiled.

Jeongyeon pretended that she received a message from her phone so she can make an excuse to go home.

She got back home on her motorcycle. She wasn't able to see clearly because of the tears that were falling on her cheek.

She should be happy to see Mina again, right? But she knows that she won't be hers.

She got home and lied on her bed crying on her pillow.

The next day came and she went to the Sycamore tree. She saw Mina with someone and she assumed that she is her girlfriend.

"Hi." Jeongyeon said. "Hey Jeongyeon this is my girlfriend." Mina said pointing at the person who was standing beside her.

They waved at each other. "Umm I will leave you two now. Bye." Jeong said and left.

The next day Mina came to the tree and found no one there. She sat under the tree for a while before she decided to dial Jeongyeon.

The first time she didn't pick up, but that didn't stop Mina from trying again. It was the fifth try and finally she picked up.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Jeongyeon."

"Hi... Mina. What do you want?"

"Can you come? I'm at the park, under the tree."

"No."

"Why?"

"I- because... because I... There's no reason!"

"Then come. Please?"

"*sigh* fine." She said and hung up.

Mina waited for her until she came. After 10 minutes or so she finally arrived.

"Hi." Mina simply said and crooked a small smile. Jeongyeon didn't look at her or returned the smile but she said in a cold tone. "Why did you want me to come?"

Mina didn't respond, she patted the space beside her signaling her to sit beside her, and the latter did so leaving space between them.

Mina sighed. "Jeong, what's wrong? You're not being like yourself these days."

"What do you mean I'm not being like myself? This is me. And just to remind you it's been a year since you last saw me. People change Mina." Jeongyeon said coldly.

Mina just nodded and tried to approach her a little bit. "You still didn't tell me why tou wanted me to come." Jeongyeon said annoyingly breaking their comfortable silence.

"I... I missed you." Mina said and intertwined their hands. A sigh escaped from Jeongyeon as she asked. "Mina what am I to you?"

Mina froze. She didn't expect that, or she didn't know what to answer. She stayed silent looking at nothing.

"Hello? Mina? Earth to Mina. Minarii?" Jeongyeon said waving her hands infront of her. Then she snapped back to reality.

"Oh, sorry. But something crossed my mind. Just forget about it." Mina said trying to change to change the topic so she doesn't respond to the question. But Jeongyeon knew what she was trying to do. She knew her so well that she coupd know what she was thinking just by staring at her eyes.

But she decided not to force her. So she just stared at the view infront of her.

After minutes of silence Jeongyeon decided to ask. "Aren't you supposed to be with your girlfriend?" She looked at Mina saying the word girlfriend sarcastically.

Mina chuckled and said. "Should I stay with her all day?" Mina jokingly asked. Jeongyeon laughed lightly. "No. But you have to spend more time with her, cause you'll never know what would happen after." Jeong said in a sad tone.

"Excuse me. Are you saying we're gonna die?"

"Maybe." They started laughing. After their laughter died Jeongyeon said. "I'm gonna go. I don't want to waste your time, cause y'know you have to spend more time with your girlfriend." She stood up and was about to leave.

"And what if I want to spend my time with you?" Then she stopped. She turned around and crooked a small smile. "I don't think you'll prefer to stay with me and not your girlfriend." And started walking away.

"Wait what? Jeongyeon wait don't leave!"

"JEONGYEON!!"
