Nico pov:
I slid down the wall of the small apartment that my current target was hiding in. The apartment was rundown and rather empty, although George didn't get too long in the living world to actually fill the apartment with anything. George's lifeless body sat roughly two feet away from me. The guy had on simple clothes and had actually got himself a loaded handgun.
I sighed in relief. George had been a pain, he didn't want to go back to the underworld where he belonged. He escaped the underworld two years ago during the second giant war. He ran from New York and tried to hide out in a city called Gotham. I had received this assignment from my dad. He sends me on jobs to get souls back to the underworld when they escape.
Escaped souls are always troublesome, they have sob stories, weapons, sometimes even hostages. They never want to go quietly. George was no exception. I was lucky to avoid serious injuries. George was not familiar with guns apparently. He shot three rounds off before I could take him down.
I looked over to George's pale body. I could hear dogs barking from other apartments. I stood from my sitting position and walked to the door. My hand was on the knob when I heard a child's echoing laugh.
I looked around but I didn't see anyone. I focused my senses for living souls around the area. I felt people in other apartments, a mother and child below me, a pair of young men were in an apartment two doors down, and a man and child were in the apartment I stood in. In fact, they are right behind me.
"You know I don't have any money, and I was only here for your friend. We don't have to do this." I said without opening the door or turning around.
"You just murdered a man with just a touch. You are coming with us." A deep male voice said.
I turned around slowly. I looked at the two figures behind me. One was in all black armor suit, with what looked like a double pointed head piece that covered everything but the mans mouth. The other was a kid in tights with the colors red, green, and yellow. He had a yellow r on his chest and had a eye mask that covered his eyes. The rest of his face including his black hair was visible to see.
"Umm... what's with the getup?" I asked.
"Seriously? You don't know Batman?" The kid said pointing to the man standing beside him.
"Should I?" I asked as I looked over to the figure called Batman. As I looked at him his getup did look kinda like a bat man.
"Regardless. You are coming with us." Batman said.
"Yeah no." I said as I opened the door to leave. Faster than I thought possible a boomerang hit the door with a solid thud. The sound of footsteps fast approaching caused me to whip around just in time to avoid a fist coming straight for my face. My demigod instincts kicked in and I started going at it with the kid of the duo. He had an interesting style of fighting, if I had been mortal with no training I would have had my butt kicked thoroughly. I stayed on defense and waited for an opening. As soon as I found it I pressed forward and attacked. My foot met his chest and sent him back ten feet. The boy executed a backwards somersault and pushed himself onto his feet. He threw two metal boomerangs at me and I willed a dagger to my hand and deflected the projectiles.
"Where did you pull that from?" The boy asked as he pulled a small metal tube from his back. It then extended to the size of a staff.
"That's not-" I started to say before a fist met the side of my face. My head went to the side and I spun to the corner of the room away from the door. The man bat now stood in front of the door. I looked over to see the kid swinging his staff right at me. I went into over drive as I tried to avoid both attackers. The apartment was small and restricted movement and space between me and the two attackers. I took a metal staff to the head and an adult foot to the chest. Upon the kick to my chest, I flew into the kitchen and hit my back on the fridge.
I stood up from my position to see the figures approach.
"Ugh... Don't you have something better to do than attack me?" I asked as I started to pull the shadows to me.
"Woah." The kid said after seeing the shadows in the room stretch towards me and wrap around me.
I started to teleport with the shadows in the room. I was in the kitchen then standing out on the street of the apartment complex.
"Interesting movement." I heard man bat behind me.
I spun around to get a face full of fist, followed by a leg sweep that knocked the wind out of me.
"I'll see to it you don't get to use it again." Man bat said before a swift kick to the face made my vision go black.

I awoke in a white room with white furniture and a white bed. Against one wall was what I could assume was a one way mirror. I pulled the covers off and sat up. I immediately felt unfamiliar weight around my neck. Upon feeling my neck and looking in the big glass mirror/ window I could see it was a collar device. It wasn't super uncomfortable but it felt weird. I felt around the device to try to find a lock or a latch to hopefully remove it, but it felt smooth all around. I sighed as I looked down at my new clothes. They were white just like everything else.
They removed everything I had on me. My ring was gone as well as my jacket.
I tried to call any shadows to me but for some reason I couldn't pull a single one to me. I then focused on my senses and I could feel a bunch of souls around me and most were standing on the opposite side of the window.
"I can tell you are there. Are you going to keep me here? I've done nothing wrong." I said.
The room was quiet. I thought they probably didn't hear me and would probably not answer, when one soul left the group and moved towards the door. The soul felt weird.
The door opened to reveal a teen who looked just as old as me. He had what looked to be a whiteish blond hair and light blue eyes that looked like crystal water. He wore a high neck sweater and seemed to ooze calmness.
"Hello. My name is Kaldur. I am going to ask you some questions and you will answer truthfully and to my satisfaction. Is that clear?" He asked as the door closed behind him.
"Oh great. Pointed questions." I said as I walked over to the nearby table that had two chairs by it. One on either side.
Kaldur sat on the opposite side of me.
"So are you ready? I will warn you that any false answers will be detected." He said as he pulled out a note pad and pen.
"Shoot your questions I feel like we are both going to be here for a while." I said.
