Chapter Seven

Harry's p.o.v

"nothing happened Hermione. I'm fine, I just fell over a loose step. Peeve's fault."

Hermione glares at me from her seat by the fire. Crookshanks is curled up on her lap and is purring loudly.

"bullshit. Blaise or Malfoy beat up on you and I know it for a fact."

I glare at her and look back down at my history homework.
Id had to start again after Blasie ruined it with ink. One day I'd get back at him. Maybe not today, but one day.
Ron stumbles downstairs and settles himself in the comfiest chair in the room.

" what have you lot been talking about?"

I shrugged and stayed bent over my work so he couldn't see my face.

"Malfoy beat him up."

Hermione said, matter of factly.

"WHAT?"

Ron leapt up and grabbed my shoulders, turning me towards him. My black eye must look worse then it was because he snatched up his wand, fuming. Hermione grabbed his arm in time to stop him from marching out of the common room in his ugly pajamas and an old Weasly jumper.
It's the first Sunday of the summer holidays, which means that there aren't many people here. It was both good and bad news when we saw Malfoy sitting at the slytherin table next to a pretty blonde girl.
Ron said it was good he was still here so 'we' could get back at him and Hermione said it was bad because he could try and hurt me again.
He smiled at me when we walked past his table but I just ignored him.
The few people who were staying for the holidays started talking about how my face got messed up.
I looked back over at the slytherin table but Dra-Malfoy was deep in conversation with the pretty girl again. For some reason it made me feel strangly jealous, but I ignored it and soon forgot about him all together until after lunch when I was sitting under a tree by the lake by myself because Hermione was helping Ron get a head start on the homework.
I was engrossed by my book until I felt someone sitting down beside me.
I looked up.

"Malfoy."

I said curtly before turning my interest back onto my book.

"yeah, look Harry I wanted to apologise for Blasise's behaviour."

We sat awkwardly like that for the next ten minutes or so as I pretended read my book until I started to get bored.

"who was that girl you were sitting with at breakfast? I haven't seen her around."

"oh thats just Soleil. She's new and Proffeser Snape asked me to look out for her."

I nod as if I'm interested.

"cool. What made you sit here?"

"I saw a cute dude sitting by himself and thought I'd join him."

I look at him and he seems to realise what he said.

"um, I mean, no, well you are cute but that's now what I'm saying..."

I almost burst out laughing but instead I blush a deep pink. I see my reflection in the lakes surface and if in not mistaken, the giant squid shoots me a thumbs up from deep underwater.
